Problems Posting Craigslist Image Ads via Photobucket

Greetings All! Excuse me for this newbie question being that I'm a newbie and this is my very first post! I've scoured the site looking for current info on posting image ads to Craigslist via photobucket and they all say to do relatively the same thing which I tried. I'm using Photobucket to host ad images that I would then embed the code into the Craigslist post in lieu of text ads. Simple enough right? Well after posting the link: src=http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e23/printcospecials/PrintCo%20Ads/Graphic%20Design/graphicdesign1_zpsd296410c.jpg>
from my Craigslist account I received a validation email (which from my instructions on creating the ads, I shouldn't have) which wants a telephone number to validate prior to publishing my ad. I'm unaware why I'm already receiving this treatment when this is my first attempt at posting an ad from this new account and new email address. It's probably something simple, but I've been unable to track down how to correct it and get my image ad to post. I'm using a pretty old (2007) Craigslist posting e-book as a tutorial on posting (which could be the problem...outdated info) and have followed everything exactly with no luck...can anyone help or provide advice...thanks

    Hi,

I get the validation request whenever I open a new account for a client on Craigslist. I think it's standard practice. Is there a reason why you can't verify the account?

Bonnie, I received the standard email ver when I created the accounts (10 in total) which I verified no problem because it's just verifying that the email is live, but now I'm receiving the phone verification when I tried to post my first ad...

That's when I receive the verification request. After the first ad is uploaded. I've used my phone number for ten or so client accounts and haven't had any problem.

        • Craigslist is no longer allowing third party hosting on ad images through sites like PhotoBucket. Each image needs to be uploaded individually.

I figured that may be the case...I've soon realized I was working with outdated posting instructions...thanks for the update!

Craigslist now requires(?) users to have a phone verified account to post ads.

Thanks...So how do I get around this? My thought is if I provide the same phone number (which I don't think would be wise) Craigslist would easily be able to link all accounts and subsequently all posts to me...potentially blocking me as spam or ghosting my posts...Any suggestions would be kindly appreciated.

The PVA requirement depends on the section you are posting in. The categories that tend to attract spam require a PVA to post.

Craigslist will let you use the same phone number for different accounts. I'm not sure the limit of accounts to the same phone number.

For example, roommates or a family sharing a phone would have different accounts but the same phone number.

With a home phone, work phone, cell phone and friend's phone you should be alright for a while.

Ahhhh! That makes since. (lightbulb moment) Maybe since I have gmail email accounts, that I can create individual Gmail Voice numbers associated with each account to further cloak my ads when Craigslist requires PVA? Essentially having a different number each time. This would then break any association between accounts and ads...until Craiglist forms an allegiance with Google...(holds his breath) Thanks!

I haven't been on Craigslist for a while. However, I thought you could just upload images directly to CL. I didn't think you had to host them on another site.
