I often wonder why there's such a big interest in problems. There are literally 100s of threads with a very similar theme to this one. In my experience, you focus on problems, you get problems. You focus on what works, well, you get it, right?

Thank you you hit the nail straight on the head.... Positive Thinking yields Positive results....

For those of you who struggle with thinking positive I want you all to go out and google "the Secret" You should be able to find a free spot to watch the movie if you have not already seen it. This movie will put everything in to perspective for ya.

The reason for all these threads is product research -
you ask what the biggest problem is
you look at what gets mentioned the most
you create a WSO and sell the same forum that gave you the answers

It's being taught a lot hence all the threads

I understand that. But there's a far easier way to do really effective product research. Go to the WSO forum and look at what's selling. Right now solo ads are hot. People are also finally figuring out that the gaming style of SEO MMO folks have been using is on the way out. Another thing is just monitor this board. One of the hottest markets that virtually no one is serving is niche selection.

That in itself isn't very difficult but newbs have been led to believe there's some magic formula in selecting a niche. First, you identify a certain type of keyword. Then you fire up the keyword analysis software. Then you sacrifice a virgin... It's nuts. Selecting a market shouldn't take more than an hour or two on the outside. But people don't believe that. So, give them what they're expecting.

My issue with these "problem" threads is that people unload all their issues, real and perceived, and then others new to marketing come along and read that stuff and all of a sudden they're spending time thinking of something that isn't even a real problem. Until, of course, it actually becomes a problem because of all the attention and even time they've spent ensuring the "problem" didn't jump up and bite 'em in the bum. So it goes...

Or someone could follow that old advice about soliciting responses to people's #1 problem, read this thread, and head off to produce a WSO teaching people how to focus. I wonder which method will work out better.

When I first started, my biggest problem was overwhelm. It just seemed like there were soooo many things that I had to do. And I felt like a dog chasing my tail. Now, it's traffic.

You got it spot on with the planning bro! You know what they say, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

But even if you have a plan, its implementing it. And thats where I sometimes go wrong. Not sticking to the plan and not being consistent. Its hard to stick to a plan when you are only accountable to yourself though.

At the end of the day, your success lies in your own hands!

This is very true, it takes discipline. It's funny how people can go to a 9-5 everyday, giving their bosses 110% and expect to be successful when giving their own businesses 10%

My big problem before was "leverage" my income would fluctuate because I wasn't leveraged properly, and I'd work to hard and get burned out.

BED!! It's pretty hard to focus when you are near your bed. It's like its calling your name, inviting you to a date with it.

Seriously, FOCUS is most IMers' problem i think. If you have all the time on your hands, you will do whatever you want, so there are lots of distractions. Your children wants to play with you, fetch them from school, your wife wants to go shopping with you, etc. It takes a lot and big big DISCIPLINE to succeed in IM.

But certainly DISCIPLINE pays off really really well.

One of the things I have not enjoyed is the fact that you have to keep an eye out for constant changes. If you are a slow learner and it takes you a while to get the hang of something, you might be surprised by the fact that what you took the time to study no longer applies.

If you don't want to spend any money for generating traffic. You need to spend more time and be persistent for generating traffic. If you consistently one traffic method, you will see result in 3 - 6 months and also make a good living.

It's better to look for solutions rather than problems. When I first started my IM journey just over five years ago I remember the amount of information and people selling courses and ebooks and it can all be a bit overwhelming. It's hard to figure out who to trust and who's just after a quick buck, but I suppose that comes with experience.

I would say that mine is time management and lack of focus. It's true that work from home and in your bedroom is very challenging- you can easily get side tracked and then the focus is gone.

It is really very important that we set our minds to our tasks and perhaps good time management plan. But of course, these are all easier said than done.

I would say trying to start too many projects at the same time before finishing one.

  The problem with informal surveys like this is that many people don't want to give the "wrong answer", so they go along with the most popular answer. This phenomenon has repeatedly been observed in multiple studies.
  
  If you really want to know what people want to buy, look at what they're buying. An opinion backed by cash is the only one that matters.
  
  Like travlinguy said, if you want to sell a WSO, go to the WSO section and look at what is selling. Look at the underlying problem, and offer your own solution.
