What are the best lessons you learned from making money online?

Being years in IM, some has already spent almost a decade in IM. What are the most valuable lessons you learned from making money online that you really hold onto?

I can sum it up to five:

DISCIPLINE - Choosing between what you want now and what you want most. I chose what I want most - Earning a living for my family.

FOCUS - Setting up time on when and how to do things right. All at the right time.

PATIENCE
- I failed so many times. But patience really pays off. Pays off really really well.

COURAGE - Do not be afraid of trying new things. Expand, grow and learn.

PERSISTENCE - Be persistent, be of good heart. Do not let your disappointments pull you back. Just keep on moving forward.

CREATIVITY - Always think of new ways to serve your customers. Be creative, be innovative.

CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP
- Learn to build their trust VIRTUALLY. It is hard to earn someone's trust online, but when you get one hold onto it. You are not just getting "customers", you are meeting new friends.

How about yours?

-Aaron

    1) Over-deliver to my customers even after sales in order to have repeat sales.
    2) Stretch out of your comfort.
    3) Focus on providing solutions to people and not on the sales; the sales will follow.

Must have clear GOAL and when reach it. Without the targeted goals, why do you get involved into an online business?

Focus focus focus. Have strong faith in your program. Of course you must have first certified that it's a credible program. Just keep at it... and you'll get there.

I've learned that strategy is everything and that luckily, the web is full of resources for everyone willing to search them.
But most importantly, I've discovered that this is a field where learning never ceases - you need to stay up to date with everything that moves around you, including your direct competitors.

Plus, I've discovered I love being challenged and IM is a full time challenge.

Most important thing I learned is about building relationship with your readers.
Most marketers make a mistake of just promoting their products without thinking from the shoes of the readers.
Building relationship and trust with your reader will help establish your reputation as a leader and a mentor in your niche. Most marketers make the mistake of just presenting a one time offer, and once someone declined that offer, they never talk to that person again.

  • The best lesson I learned about making money online actually comes from this forum: it pays to pay it forward. Ever since I've started participating I've received and shared advice and knowledge from people all over the world, IM has been more fun and worthwhile. It's not just about the money. I actually feel happy and satisfied with what I do. I feel like at the end of the day, I did a good job because I was able to help somebody and someone helped me do my job better.

I would say being consistent. Giving your methods enough time is important. There's still people out there looking for 'Get Rich' or 'Push Button Software's'. Skill + Action = Success. That is a FACT!

I have learned over the past decade that it is so much more simple to start making real money online when you network with proven successful marketers. The ones that are willing to teach you exactly how to follow in their footsteps and provide ongoing support to you.

Always do your homework on the marketer promising to make you 10K in 10 days - and run for cover if you find out he or she hasn't yet made a dime...

    1. You have to work.
    2. You have to take risks and try things that you have no idea if they will succeed or fail.

Definitely! There's a lot to be said for focusing, but having an alternative way to bring in money (or three) will help stabilize things a lot, unless you get very lucky.

That's so true! But also take a very close look at the offer, read between the lines, and ask questions.

That's so important too. There's a lot of good advice in this thread.

      My 2 cents:

I think one key for me was to build my skill set, i.e., learning how to build blogs, write sales letters, do teleseminars, and create products. And there are always new skills to learn, but from what I hear this will keep the brain young! And it also keeps things interesting!
