I've just been told by hostgator that my blog is using too big of a database and it's now casuing loads of errors on my site. This is on shared hosting. He's also now just told me I can't even get a bigger databse on reseller hosting.. Sure this all silly talk.. I've never heard of it happening anyone. I also don't beleive them but hey anything can happen, has this happnened to anyone before? |

Actually, it happens quite often. Shared hosting is just like that: hundreds of sites on one single machine with limited resources to each. However, WP itself rarely causes huge spikes in DB usage, in most of the cases plugins written by half-skilled authors are running amok. Deactivate all your plugins - that's a first step when trying to fix it. Then ask the host to be more specific about the DB requests. |
| In the first half of the year we are supposed to work for the taxman. I think that's a mistake. Help me to get rid of the taxman ASAP - thanks! (You, too, should make less mistakes!) | |
