Last week I visited two fairly major sites. On each of them, as soon as the content I was trying to read loaded, a poupup appered right on top of it asking me to sign up for something.

I can't believe this is the right way to do this. It is kind of like jumping between two people who are talking at a party and trying to sell something to one of them while they were in the middle of listening to someone else.

Why would I want to subscribe to a newletter from a site before I have the chance to read a single article?

Agreed. Pop up advertising is a complete turn off for me personally. I found a site today that every time I clicked the ad off, it would pop up again unless I signed up for their news letter.

I am quick to leave a site that hits me over the head with pop ups. I get it, you are building your list, or you have sold the pop up for a nice price...but if you want me to sign up or pay attention to your ads, don't blast me with them after I have closed them already.

It works. You might be upset, but 50 other people dont mind and probably buys from this person's site..... thus still making him live the good life.

It's a business, that's how it works, and it only takes a second to click away and continue reading

If you like the article, you might subscribe afterwards, without the popup you might not have thought about it. The more opportunities that are presented the more people will opt in, the more the website owner will earn...
