About Testimonial videos from Fiverr

What's the right way to get testimonial videos from actors at Fiverr?

I have a bunch of written testimonials from our clients but no videos, and I would love to put some videos at our sales page.

Can I use the written testimonial and order an exact copy of the text in video?

The person which wrote the testimonial need to agree that I shoot a video from his testimonial, even if he is already aware that we will use it to put it at our sales page?

I think that this is not a fake, it's just the video version of a written testimonial.

But what does the FTC thinks about this is maybe another story.

I personally think this is not good approach. What you do is you try to add additional proof (video) for potential customer to generate more sales. Actually it is not additional proof (person on video is not a real customer), so people are somehow misleaded. But I know many marketers do it with success.

I hear you and I also don't like it to be honest but people like to assist a video in stead of reading a testimonial.

But is it legally OK to do it the way I told, using a written testimonial as script?

I think as soon as someone recognizes one of your testimonials as a fiverr gig it will totally demolish your credibility! I don't think it's worth it.

Very true and most of the marketers can easily recognize fiverr videos.
If I see someone using any of fiverr videos to sell me something, I will straightaway leave his site and will never trust him or his site again.

Better you stay with written testimonial; not everyone get impressed with video testimonials. Don't lose your credibility in the market. I am sure true written testimonials are far better than fiverr video testimonials.

From my opinion, real testimonial is always better than "Fake" testimonial. Fiverr testimonial spokesman will be saturated soon. Too many people is using it

Or u can find somebody which is nobody.

You really have to be careful with the stuff you purchase from fiverr.
if its not mission critical ,go with fiverr

or else get Real Review from users, may be reward them if they give you a Video Testimonial,

that will be natural and trustworthy.

Hi, You need to write a review on your sales or affiliate page/product first. After that you can contact any freelancer on fiverr to make a review or testimonial video. Thanks

    Bad idea.

I have seen informercials do this and they have a big disclaimer down the bottom of the screen saying this is a paid actor presenting a customer testimonial. I imagine you would have to do the same. But what's the first thing you think of when you see something like that... crap!

I would either stick to the written testimonials OR get real customers of yours to create video testimonials.

Some good responses here. I always thought that getting video testimonials from Fiverr was a good thing based on quite a few of those fiver reports flying around and being sold. Glad I stopped here, thx

yea I wouldn't use fiverr as well. Maybe try emailing some of your customers and asking for a review video in exchange something they don't have of yours...,maybe a free offer you can give out that people would normally pay for.

Are you guys kidding me? Television commercials have been doing this for decades with a lot of success. You guys act like this is something new.

Video testimonials with an actor is not a bad idea at all. Especially if it works well with what you're selling or if it's believable. If you're selling SEO and have video testimonials, it is a waste because nobody would do a video testimonial for a service like that. If your niche is online dating or weight loss then of course it's a great idea to get a video testimonial done from Fiverr. They work really well in niches like that and it's the reason you see hundreds of commercials doing this despite having "not a real customer. paid actor" at the bottom of the screen.

It's the reason products like Bowflex or Proactive made their money. Paid testimonials work really well.

I honestly don't think it's a bad idea at all but it certainly depends on what you're selling. Hope I provided a different perspective on the subject.

Yes this is true, but disclosure is a legal obligation in many countries.

LOL, have you ever tried it to take that position

Serious guy's, thanks for the help.

It will be a video with us reading the testimonials, killing two flies with one swat.

I actually just read this the other day when I was looking for some information on disclosures, it may be of some use to you: http://www.ftc.gov/sites/default/fil...mentguides.pdf

Personally, I wouldn't go for the Fiverr video thing. I remember one guy who claimed to do the same thing when he ran a WSO (turn actual customer testimonials into video testimonials using Fiverr), and it turned into a whole big scene with a lot of drama.

If you have testimonials from customers in text form, hire a graphic designer on the cheap to make them pop off the page. With the right background and graphics surrounding the testimonials, they can be really powerful.

Or another way to do it would be to read the testimonials yourself: "This is the type of feedback we are getting." Show the text on the screen while you're reading them.

      Thanks Mark

this is actually a perfect fit for what I would like to achieve.

Combines a video and the written testimonial in a perfect way.

Do what Mark suggested: Read the testimonials yourself. Going the Fiverr route will be a disaster if you have any intentions of getting to know your customers personally. Unless your "brand" is the focus of your promotions, you'll lose all credibility.

Regardless of how it's done the testimonial is fake. Just read it yourself like "Declan O Flaherty" said. Even though the testimonial in and of itself may be real having other people read it and act as the customer is not honest.

But in the end its not like the FTC is going to find you amongst all these products and offers. They have much larger fish to fry. One thing I'm noticing is that all the same testimonial people tend to be everywhere.

And that can kill if a potential customer ever finds out. But the chances of that are slim. Hope you sort it out.

I personally never trusted video testimonials and I believe that everyone who thinks it through won't believe that your customers actually took the time to record a video and share their experience with your company or product.
And what will you do if someone recognizes one of those fiverr persons that shoots your video testimonial? It might do more bad than good to your credibility and online authority.
I don't believe it's illegal, but I'm pretty confident it won't do the good you're expecting.
