The "What was Internet Marketing Like in the 90's?" thread got me thinking about where we're heading. Will article marketing still be in? Squeeqe pages? PPC? What do you think it'll be like in 5 years? .... |

I think it will be all about providing good quality information and driving traffic to your site. Oh wait. That's what it is now... Hmmmm... Coincidence? |

| Everyone will be treating it like a real business instead of buying hope.

As with any industry competition will get tougher. The top niches such as porn, dating, pharm etc are already hyper competitive and you can't compete without serious technical as well as marketing skills. As time goes on the techniques and strategies that are currently employed in only the most profitable areas will trickle down to more people and used in more areas.

| So far as the US is concerned, it will be highly regulated by an increasingly socialist state and federal governments. Most current marketing methods will be illegal or very tightly controlled by licenses and so forth. Google will have moved off-shore after losing an anti-trust case and US citizens won't be permitted to use Adsense. In fact, most affiliate programs will be made illegal because they encourage spam and exploitation. Starting your own online product business will be very costly in terms of complying with new federal government regulations and heavily increased state taxes.

I'm just kidding... but boy have you opened up a can of worms! Or maybe I did by starting the thread. LOL I can't share your doom and gloom scenario but I do agree that too much government crackdown might hurt free enterprise. A balance must be maintained.

The people doing that will leave the business, whether by choice or by force, and they will be replaced by a whole new crop of people doing that. The ways people are doing that now will become unavailable, and new ways of doing it will become available. In the grand scheme of things, nothing will change. There will be just as many scammers running just as many scams... they'll just be different scammers with different scams. And the ethical business operators will not even notice the change.

Article marketing will never be out. But just like TV has made people read less, onilne video has to be more popular in the next 5 years. So I guess article marketing is going to be much more combined with some video marketing in the future. There you go, I've made a prediction and it's not nonsense ![]() Oh yes, and Google will launch their new program "Adsense for refrigerators" |
