Default Outsourcers: Overseas vs. USA?

Hey guys,

So I posted a project up on GetAFreelancer.com and I got tons of bids.

I've narrowed it down to a few candidates and two are from the USA and two are from India.

The two from India are very prompt in their response times and have perfect english, so do the two from the USA.

Here's the thing though, I (living in Canada) am not motivated by $50 per month whereas I know that in India this money goes a lot further. I feel that the Indian outsources would be more motivated by this type of a small job.

What do you think?

Hi,

Me too, I faced this dilemma few times ago. I went with the less expensive provider from India. I'm dessapointed with her job. Instead, I should go with the one with I felt the more confontable with.

My advise to you, wherever the country go with the one who you like her or his written style. Not the one who the lestās expensive.

bye

Hugo

For content, I only use USA or UK writers - No compromise...

For design and programming, I like overseas people. The best programmer I have ever worked with was German, and he was amazing with low rates. My guy from Africa got arrested for hacking govt. computers. Prior to that, we had a great working relationship.

I think if it is for programing, designing, scripts, and all that kind of stuff then I would just go with India because I have tried a lot of those guys and they are geniuses at that kind of stuff. However most of them are not good at all at writing articles sinces it is not their native launguage.

This is not a question of ________ VS. ________.

This is a question of who is the best person for the job and will they get it done on time.

Have you compared the quality of their work?

Have you compared the feedback from other satisfied customers?

Have you exchanged PM's with each provider and have a good feel for them?

Have any of the providers completed prior work similar in nature to what you need done?

Pick who you think is the best person for the job!

The word I've heard from the block is go ....... Philippines, Philippines .... all the way!

WHY?

Because they are fluent in English and are hard workers.

MEANING!

They'll get the job done RIGHT!

AND ...

At a "cheap" price to boot!

Again, this is what I've heard from experienced and successful Outsourcers.

Just my 2 cents worth!

Cheers,

JMB

P.S. As soon as I get a chance, I know who I will hire .
So who will you hire?

... Why not?! Filipinos are efficient and hard working. You can definitely rely on them.

I have used many article writers and the biggest problem that I had with overseas writers is not understanding the United States culture and society. If you are looking for writers to write about things uniquely American, I think that you will be disappointed with oversees writers.

However, if you are writing about topics that transcend the United States borders, then I recommend the Philippines.

I don't worry where my contractors are from. I just go by quality and price.

The most difficult part of outsourcing (and hiring locally) is finding good people. I don't really seek out freelancers anymore (maybe occasionally) because I have a team that I have built up, and they do great work, but I did find some of them through outsourcing, though it has been at least a couple of years since I brought in anyone new.

My opinion :

Don't even trust programmer from India.
I was cheated. The project is not done
even after 6 months.

Don't trust programmer from India.
But if for writing, they are quite good.

Your decision should be based on merit and not where the freelancer is from. You may get it cheap on third world countries but that doesn't mean quality is compromised as well. There are good writers outside the US as well. Besides anywhere you go, you get good and bad providers.

Slight warning:

Most of the replies from India are from salespeople trying to "win" gigs. They aren't the actual programmers and are simply trying to generate revenue. Once they win it, the debacle begins and getting your project done can take a loooong time.

I'm not saying they're all like this...but be aware of the "curtain". Ask some really techie questions and see if they reply like programmers. See if the dialog continues. Probe them like hell.

That said, I've had very good luck with overseas outsourcing.
