For any niche out there, I would go with pay per click ads.

Just make sure that you track results from each place you buy the traffic from.

Well, there are tons of ways how you can drive traffic back to your website, but I would recommend guest blogging on other sites and use the traffic to build your audience a.k.a mailing list.
There's no point in posting on your own blog where no one is going to find your articles, it's better to get those articles in front of big audiences and leverage them to build your audience.

If possible invest some time and find a really good blog related to yours and see if they allow guest posting. if english isnt your native language you can get someone to write a post for a popular blog as a "guest". Some popular blogs get a lot of traffic and might help others learn about your own.

Guest blogging is great, plus you can go to forums and post high quality posts or answers there. Another good place to do that is yahoo answers - there are a lot of questions asked each and every day.
If you have money - use facebook ads or PPC - monitor your traffic and then scale, if it works!
    All the best!

Wherever you decide to get your traffic initially, either paid or free, be sure you are capturing as many of them as possible to your email list.

Traffic alone to your blog isn't going to earn much money through affiliate links or whatever.

Find a couple traffic sources you are really good at and like doing and run with it. Not everyone is good at various traffic sources that work well for others.

Of course, free traffic isn't really free so you pay with your time so keep that in mind when searching for free traffic methods

The best free ways to drive traffic to your website is to use blog/forum posting, social media interaction, guest posting (with a link back to your blog), SEO of your website, and building up an e-mail list of subscribers.

Some of the other ways to drive traffic will cost you some money (and can be expensive) like buying ad space on high traffic websites, setting up a Google AdWords campaign, and setting up an affiliate program for product or service offerings.

Quality content is the only thing that will bring you the right leads and a consistent targeted traffic. As long as you're hoping to have thousands of people reading your blog over night, there are little chances you will do so.
When you will stop being obsessed with how many people read you and focus on what useful information you can offer, you will notice traffic will grow.
Alternatively, if you have the money, run an AdWords campaign - but make sure you configure it the right way, otherwise you'll be throwing money out of the window.
