What is success and is it achievable?

Another post sparked this question.

You see initially I wanted to make an extra $500 a month. I thought "man that would help out a lot"

I live a comfortable life right now, I work, my wife works and my house hold income is already over $100,000 a year.

People think making six figures is rich, but it's not its just comfortable, if you manage your money right.

some people who make more than me are struggling financially.

Anyways, so I hit the $500 a month mark online, and wanted $1000. Hit that and said I want $2k.

Hit that and now I just want to earn enough online to where I can retire from the military in a few years and never go to work for anyone ever again.

I'm currently sitting at $2726 a month and I think that if I hit $10K I will still not be satisfied.

Has anyone ever made enough money and said "you know what, I'm good"

Everyone has their own goals when they go online.

Not everyone wants to earn $10,000 to be able to quit their job. You would be surprised to know that many just want an extra $2,000-$5,000 per month income and they would be happy.

Some don't even have the intentions to earn a full time income. They just want to have extra money lying around.

If you spend all the money in your own needs ,you will never get satisfied.
participate in a useful project to your society and there are a lot of that
and Money will no more be you interest but reaching your goal in that project

Every month you will be satisfied after your reach your goals for that month with others.

I've been at a level where I got comfortable and virtually stopped working because the money was rolling in anyway, a LOT of money too. Well, like everything, it ended eventually and I had to kick myself to get going again. The lesson here is even if you think you're making "enough", if you don't keep working and improving things you'll lose it sooner or later. So don't get lazy, don't get complacent, don't stop working!

Success is defined by each individual. You have to envision what success looks like to you.

For me, success is when I'm happy which is a result of having great health, financially free, and great family.

this may be a case of the increasing expenses of your life style, you will always thirst for more.

if you manage a $2,000 a month life style. and make $4,000 a month. you will be satisfied. "the goal is not daily increase but daily decrease." (in the sense of income necessity).

once you've reached that "necessity point." i suggest you should approach making money as a sport, a challenge, a hobby.

Success is a relative term so 2K a month is "making it" for you for others it could be 10K a month. And cingrats on making a comfortable 2K a month online.

Success comes when you reach you goals. In order to do that, you have to set your goals first.
Success means different things to different people at different stags of their life. So it really depends on individual.
A lot of people use monetary achievements as a measure of success. But it need not be just monetary goals. It can personal goals, family goals, and things like that.
And yes, I believe yiu can be successful if you set your goals correctly and work towards it.

Success comes as a result of the right thoughts and actions, and after a lot of work, but it depends on many things. You can be successful for a certain period of time, and then have problems. Flexibility is indispensable.

About not being glad with the amount you are making, this is normal. Most people feel this way. Keep increasing your business, and finding new income streams.

Someday you will be satisfied, if you will be persistent.

Success seems different from person to person.
For me Success is when you are happy. That is real success.

We all have tasks and goals. Even though many people achieved their goals of making money up to their desired level, they would still want more because we are human. I don't think many people would say "you know what, I'm good"
As a human nature we would always want more and more but as long as you are happy in what you get, I believe that is the real success.

    I imagine it's a personality trait. I want more.

I think when you don't have a lot you talk yourself into accepting the lack there of. You say things, like money isn't everything.

I do enjoy giving back and helping others as well. I often pick up the bill for large groups of people and I help my family when they truly need it.

I'm glad I'm not satisfied personally. I wouldn't be where I am if I was ever satisfied with where I was.

***update*** my income has increased to $3350 a month recurring as of writing this

Different people have different goals, most target money, they think thats the magic thing they need, more and more money, but often with that come more and more pressure to keep it up.

I prefer to target lifestyle, I want to spend my days how i choose, no boss, get up when I want, go to bed when I want and do what I want with who I want in between. This means usually family and friends, plus a few awesome people I deal with in my business, and then just doing the parts of my work I love, and as 95% of the time I do this, I am happy.

I never moan about work, or people I work with, monday is the same as friday or saturday or even sunday and I think thats how people should be able to live.

When people start looking at monetary rewards they start piling on pressure, every time going up a few k, and targeting just a few extra. In doing so they often have to up their workload and put pressure on themselves to keep it up consistently as they become accustomed to being able to spend that extra money, then that breeds more desire to earn more and even more pressure.

This will likely go on forever.

They want more because of the extra work and pressure.

The only way to get out of a sequence like this is with a system that allows you to earn more without more work, without risk and inconsistencies most businesses have.

If you can do this then you will be happy and probably very rich too.

Yep. MLM = Most Lose Money!

Here's a dose of my opinion: very few, and I do mean very few ever find success with MLMs. They are pyramid schemes no matter how you slice them and I recommend everyone stay far, far away.

You know after a year with a traditional MLM company, handing out DVD's going to hotel meetings, leaving business cards and magazines every where, buying and cold calling leads, bugging everyone I met. I went from a MLM zealot to a true hater of MLM.

To this day I would never become involved in an MLM that required me to do any of that stuff.

That's what really led me to the internet and IM.

My question to you would be, what is the difference between MLM "pyramid schemes" and promoting an affiliate product that allows you to leverage through payment levels?

Me personally I don't care what you call it, call it MLM, call it a pyramid, call it affiliate marketing, If it makes money without all the crap I have grown to have disdain for then I'm on board.

And as a side note. To tell people that most people never get rich with a particular opportunity is very true, yet at the same time should only elicit one response.

          Duhhh.

          It's called life

Only a few people ever get rich with stocks.

Only a few people ever win the lottery.

Only a few people ever climb the corporate ladder and become wealthy.

No need to state the obvious and the lack of millionaires, in my opinion, is not a good reason not to strive to reach your full potential, no matter what route you take.

The term "success" is dependent upon each individual. What is a success to me may not be a success to you.

The monetary figure really is irrelevant. The bottom line is you want your online monthly income to consistently surpass what your j-o-b pays. You're probably not going to quit your job if it doesn't.

My point is if I make $5,000 a month from my job and my online income totals $2500 a month, then yes, I've increased my monthly income by 33%; however, if I decide to quit my job, I've just decreased my income by 50%.

Just figure out your own financial situation, and make your decisions based on what's best for you. No one else knows that but you.

    I hope that helps.

Yes it's possible but success is addicting, once I had a little I wanted more of it. It's almost more about the challenge and the chase and that feeling you get when you see sales or get a check in the maill than it is about a certain amount of money.

"Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal."

Yes, success is achievable. You must determine your worthy ideal and work diligently toward that ideal/goal. You must maintain a bias for action. Make continual, positive strides toward your goal.

You are responsible for your success or failure!

I think part of success has to include being able to go to bed at night with a clear conscience. I wonder how many Internet marketers have that problem...

Everything is relative I believe. As others have touched on.

If you want to enough to be able to quit your job, you'll have a new job in hand - IM. Yes, success is a journey and even if you do feel at some point in time, yiu are making "enough", you still have to work hard like a day job to keep the money coming in. If you don't look at IM as your day job, you can't let it replace your "real" day job.

Sure success is an individual thing, but surely to plan something based on goals, then achieve that goal, must be classed as a success!
Jim Rohn used to say "what a perfect place to be; ambitious and yet content"!
My aim is to be able to quit my job as a lecturer and work from home in six months in IM, to be able to spend more time with my wife who is long term sick = success.

Thanks for serving, now what is success, success comes in many forms, what is success for me is not for the next person.

To me success, also is never giving up at something you really want, regardless of the disappointments and failures. So, being persistent and never, never giving up is in itself success.

Now to me success, is TIME FREEDOM 1st along with FINANICIAL FREEDOM !

The only person who can decide what success is, is you. You need to write down your list of goals that would make you feel successful and then figure out how to get them. One step at a time. If you know what you want you can get it. If you don't know what you want you can't get it. Simples!

Success is subjective. Some people resume on money, others spiritual things. A man could be almost starving and be happy. Just think that some people wish for a new TV. That would make them happy. You could buy 1/day, so the TV has no value to you, wouldn`t make you happy. You wish for a car let`s say. Another guy could buy 2cars/day, so the car has no value to him. And so on.

For me success is having the freedom to accomplish the tasks for which I was created. That turns money into a tool that accomplishes an objective. Money was never designed to be an objective in itself, but it's definitely useful in accomplishing your goals in life. I believe that's why most people don't accomplish more financial success. Your goals must be compelling enough to get you to take the action necessary to achieve that success.
