Designing and formatting my ebook

Hi Warriors,

I've written a 20 page report and now I need to design it, making a cover, creating a nice layout. It doesn't have to be fancy, but it has to look professional. I want the cover to be letters only.

How do you do this? Do you know of articles that show to do this step by step? Or do you hire someone to do it?

Cheers,
Fingerpicker

Just to clarify, are you asking about formatting the report, creating a cover...or both? Assuming you are talking about the cover, a really quick and simple method is to use Keynote (Mac) or Powerpoint (PC). You can create a custom slide of the size that you want and then create text boxes, it's really easy to move them around where you want. Both of these programs will allow you to export the slide as a jpg. I hope that helps!

Do it like Evegood said or you can even use cover templets from word if you wrote the report with word!

Do you have examples you can share of what you have in mind?

      Hi all,

      Thanks for your answers!

It is about both formatting and creating the cover. With formatting I also mean creating the whole layout etc. --> I guess I wasn't very clear in my question.

      Cheers!

If you want a professional looking graphics and some cool designs, I would pay someone here in the forum for all of this.

If you try to do this on your own, it will take you a lot of time and it will probably not look as professional as you want it to be.

I watched this and used pixlr (free program) and 3d-pack (another free program) to create mine.

Thanks for your insights! I think you guys are right when you say it looks better when someone else does it :-)

Just found a piece of cheap software with templates. I'll try that first and if it doesn't work I'll head off to a designer.

      Thanks!

I create all my covers with my easy to use cover maker software but you can always outsource it cheap at sites like Fiverr.com. Be sure to have rights should you use any photos.
