Just tell us the answer the suspense is killing me:

I think that none of them acutally invented the wheel - so to speak.

They all adapted an already existing "thing" and figured out how to make money from it.

Pure guess.

Oh, and I can pretty much garantee that all of them invest in property/real estate in someway.

It is interesting that most of the truly financially wealthy inherited the money from good ol' grandpa or great grandpa.

However, wealth is also meassured by contentment, happiness, children and righteous living. However, money is also like oxgen, when you need it, you need it now.

No one person can end poverty by simply writing a check.

Take 60 B USD (the higher range fortune rounded) and divide among 6 B people (world population set to a nice round figure) and each person on the planet gets $10! Even when you adjust for poverty levels and exchange rates, it wouldn't make a huge dent.

Poverty is a much bigger and more complex problem than can be solved by simply taking from the rich and giving to the poor.

Do it that way and the rich would probably end up rich again and the poor would end up poor again regardless.

Mmmm, Carlos Slim its the only owner of ALL the only phone company in Mexico, then he is also the owner of Telcel, the ONLY cell phone company that own all the cell phone infrastructure in Mexico too (Telefonica Movistar rent their infrastructure to Telcel so is not even a competition really) and then buy another countries phone and cell phones companies too, so he have a huge monopoly.

As we know Bill gates almost have a 2nd monopoly, just look windows vista, now its almost impossible to buy any PC without it!

What do the 100 wealthiest people in the world have in common?

They all invested time and money in their education and than took action on it once they got it (in other words, once they got the education, they didn't go into information overload, they acted upon the information they received)

Take a look at America's 50 Poorest People:

America's 50 Poorest People | The Onion - America's Finest News Source

Now what do they all have in common?

BTW- To become extremely wealthy you have be extremely greedy, selfish, and have a wreckless disregard for the welfare of others. I personally don't think those characteristics are worthy of praise.

They're all on The Onion?

I disagree with you that to be extremely wealthy you gotta be greedy, selfish and have a wreckless disregard for the welfare of others. Mr Warren Buffet donated lots. Not to mention all the rest of the 100 too - they created jobs for people.

Well, I guess I'll take another guess since we don't know the answer yet.

Look at how they got their fortunes... Investments, software, diy furniture that falls apart so you have to buy more and more until you smarten up and buy real furniture, food, gambling, steel, oil, made-in-China lead-painted cheap plastic goods, crummy computers, candy, rentals, banking, shoes, make-up, electronics...

They have nothing in common!

It just goes to show that you can make your wealth in anything!

I can't say factually that this is true across the list, but many names jump out there of people who literally started with nothing and pursued their goals into the wealth you see on the list.
