Need help building a plan

Hello everyone,

Short background (feel free to skip this part)
I'm fairly new to affiliate marketing even through I knew about it for a while, just never got into it.
My first attempt to get into it was in March of this year but because of lack of motivation and procrastination it failed fast. Later in April I started my second attempt, but with having first going through self-improvement books on managing time and motivation. I tried buying FB ads and teespring, but it did not make me money, but i learned more about FB advertisement and basic Photoshop skills. Now I'm trying to start my first big project.

MAIN PART
I recently bought domain and hosting to start my fitness blog. I plan to finish building site, making social network pages within next week.
  • How many articles should I have before starting SEO and social network development.
  • Any great material on SEO will be helpful.
  • What should I concentrate at first marketing my website through SEO or social networks.
  • How many visitors should I have first before starting to put affiliate links
  • Where could I possibly find a free lancer to write articles

If there are threads that contain useful information please let me know.
Thank you

Good job on taking action and buying your own domain and hosting. That's a good first step. There are lots of other ways on how to earn from Facebook even without buying FB ads. As for how many visitors your site should start having before putting affiliate links? I'd say about 100 per day. That's for adsense though so there.

Mate, first and most important thing to do is make sure you are building a list with this site.

Ask anyone, they will tell you that having a list is the easiest and most consistent way to make money online

Do this now, and then learn how to market to them, send them back to your site, etc

It will pay big dividends in the long run

People need to know your out there first. you could focus on directory submissions and backlinks to your site. I have tried this site http://goo.gl/FQl9EV it worked for me. But my site was about cookbooks. Worth a shot.

As far as I can see, people gave you some good replies so far.

What I can add from my own experience in the Fitness niche is to be patient and consistent. Don't expect to make any money in the first few months, and don't expect to get rich in the first few years.

If this is really what you want to do, keep going and have a plan on the long term (3-5 years).

Try something that's going to let you see results straight away. This is the best way to combat procrastination. Seeing results quickly gets you in the mood to do more work and make more money.

I would recommend making a squeeze page, and creating a followup series that sells a product on clickbank.

This way, all you have to do is promote the URL of your squeeze page, and the rest is automatic

      Hello,

Procrastinating is a huge problem for me, and From what I know most people, its just how you deal with it...

on your Plan, Getting plenty of good content is good, and start building that list, instead of putting the affiliate link in at this point, which might mess with you traffic, just point them to a mailing list opt in

Then you can send them the links (Try to keep them happy with links, and not just spam them...)

also Making a product for you to use, and for affiliates to promote is the way I'm planning on going, and what I would recommend, that way if SEO fails, there are still others promoting your site...

      Hope this helps!

Is fitness an interest of yours? I'm only asking because choosing a niche based on something you know might make things easier in the beginning. Ofc it also has to be a viable commercial niche, but most niches can be profitable if done right.

Anyway what I suggest you focus on in the beginning is good content and networking with others in your niche. Register on all related forums and start helping out, start participating on blogs, social media etc. That should be your first step before you start thinking about SEO and things like that. At least if you want to build a long-term authority site...

If you're more interested in building smaller niche sites (which can be profitable but usually here-today-gone-tomorrow), I suggest you start by commiting to putting up a few articles per week and building a few links per week to every article. It's going to take time though and it's going to be boring so be prepared For smaller niche sites you don't have to pay much attention to social media, it's more important with proper SEO.

Yes I am interested in fitness, other wise I would not be able to keep site running for long time. Another question is how soon I should get into pushing my page on social networks?

You want to get on the social networks from the off, even if you don't try push the fans you colate to your site just build the following.

Push any traffic from the site back to social networks though and get more followers.

Once your site has a reasonable amount of content 10-15 articles then start looking at driving traffic to it from your social profiles.

Make sure right from the start your optimising it to capture leads with a free offer and also an upsell, can be your own or as an affiliate but make sure it is a decent product and has good conversion rates first, this way your likely to start making money much sooner and keep your reputation in tact.

You also want a reasonable follow up sequence highlighting relevant or your best post, best product etc. I would say mailing every 2-3 days and at least 8- maybe 15 mails in length to start.

These followups should also work as research too so you can get feedback on your leads, finding out who they are, what they want, problems, what works everything that you can use to deliver more of what they need.

You should also ask those that aren't following socially to do so and also encourage sharing to help others too.

Finally you want some high end products in your sequence that even though will only have a few buyers can massively improve profit with just a few sales.

I wouldn't personally look to SEO as a means of traffic from the off, articles would need to be good and well optimised to rank in what is a hard market, so would take a lot of time even with a good backlinking and internal linking strategy.

I would go for PPC ads on Facebook and then build a following.

If like you say you're into fitness, post regular videos and link these to posts on your blog, this way you will get plenty of engagement and shares and the traffic will come, inspiration pictures usually go down well too.

Hope that helps, and good luck.

    • How many articles should I have before starting SEO and social network development.

( 20 articles would be a good start that are seo optimized )
    • Any great material on SEO will be helpful.
( What Is SEO / Search Engine Optimization? )
    • What should I concentrate at first marketing my website through SEO or social networks.
( SEO - focus on doing good seo keyword research, target low competitive keywords to write articles based on these keyword phrases to come up sooner in google, good onpage seo, using LSI throughout your site, get some quality backlinks, Social Networks takes work outsource the work and create engaging content that people want to share )

    • How many visitors should I have first before starting to put affiliate links
( None, you can weave your links into the body of the content and casually link outside. )
    • Where could I possibly find a free lancer to write articles
    ( odesk, elance, fiverr.com )

If your going the first time blog route. 2 tips i would give are

    1. Make sure you properly niche down - A lot of newbies make the mistake of going too broad, thinking they want to leave room for everything in the topic.
    2. Add personalization if possible - Internet is getting more and more crowded by the day, personalization will connect with people better and build a loyal following

Starting and building your own business can be overwhelming. And while many business owners cringe at the mere mention of drafting a business plan, it is a great exercise to get your business back on track and to plan for future growth. More specifically, it forces you to map out where you are now, where you need to go and most importantly how you plan to get there. If you are a first time business owner, or have never written a business plan, you may not know where to start.
    1) What is the need that your business exists to satisfy?

Every business exists because of some noticeable opportunity that you have discovered within the market. So you must clearly define the need and/or problem you are solving with this business.
    2) How will your business satisfy the need?

Introduce and describe the business itself. Consider including a mission or vision statement with objectives detailing how the business satisfies the need in the market.
    3) How does your company differentiate itself?

Describe your business model and competitive advantage. This will help you to outline how the business will sustain its position within the market.
    4) Who will be the key players in the business?

Name the management team, board and advisers to the business. Highlight their expertise and experiences.
    5) How big is the market you are entering?

Only after understanding the industry you are entering – its size, attractiveness and profit potential – can you truly justify the opportunity.
