Why can't I submit a podcast to iTunes?

I have been trying for 3 months off and on now to try and submit a podcast RSS feed to iTunes through the iTunes software. I have looked at many tutorials online taking me through the process and all of them are the same and I go through each step exactly, but everytime I put in the RSS link it I get a message saying that they are experiencing technical difficulties and to try again later.

So whenever I submit my podcast RSS feed I am getting this message. I know it is not an issue with the feed because it validates and is also the same feed that gets submitted to about 25 other podcast directories all of which never had any issues.

Is iTunes done letting people submit podcasts? If so why do they have a huge button inside their software that says Submit Podcast? I am so confused because I really want to get it out there for the massive exposure, but for the life of me can't figure this out.

Has anyone successfully submitted a podcast to iTunes in the past, or even in the last 6 months? I am just wondering if I am missing something or missing a step.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much Warriors!

I am under the impression that iTunes is not a podcast repository. The files are normally uploaded to another server and all that itunes does is provide the rss feed.

Thats how I understand it to work.

    Hope this helps?

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, you are correct that they don't let you upload the actual MP3 files, but they allow you to submit a podcast because their iTunes software has a huge button that says Submit Your Podcast and then it takes you to a spot to put in the RSS Feed URL. I guess I should change my statement to I can't submit a podcast. I appreciate the input. It won't even let me get the RSS feed out there.

I haven't even tried and won't be much help to you about that, but just some info that might be related. I have just a single podcast and a single video cast that I really like. I downloaded a series of them about a year ago and everything was simple and straightforward. Lost most of them and went back recently and everything was a pain in the neck.

It seems like there is a problem with the cost of the bandwidth or something and things are much more limited now. I couldn't get back issues at all and on top of that itunes on my computer started acting up too and got to be another pain in the neck.

But good luck with that and hope it works out.

Did you discover what the problem was?

I'm curious because I'm going to be doing podcasts to help drive traffic.

Let us know the results from the pod cast you post. I wonder how many listens it will get?

Is posting podcasts to itunes effective for driving traffic?
