Landing pages and squeeze pages. Many questions.

I have read a lot on the importance on have a landing page or a squeeze page. I have searched a lot here, on the web and on you tube to understand how this landing page is posted and how the emails are collected and how they are used, but never got an answer.

All I understood is that landing or squeeze pages help in building lists, so we can send emails to our lists for free afterwards.

I thought that posting few questions for the experts to answer, would be useful for me and for other newbies.

Kindly take some time to answer the following:

1. Is there difference between landing pages and squeeze pages?
2. I read that landing pages need hosting. Do they also need domain? What about Squeeze page? Does it also need hosting?
3. I found many ways and places that offer making landing pages. What happens after making one and hosting it? Where do I place it?
4. This is related to #3 . How to place this landing page to appear before people go to my target website. Where to place the links ?
5. What is the clicker doesn't like to see this landing page. Do I lose a clicker or this person has to go to my website anyway?
6. How to collect the emails and opt ins? Do I use software or a service for that?
7. This is related to # 6. Are these opt ins categorized by gender, age and niche?
8. How after that I can send mass emails these persons? Do I also use software or a service or send from my email directly?
9. Won’t my email marked as spam?

Sorry for the long list of questions. I am sure many others have more questions to add, and wish all experts help in answering.

Thanks

    1. A landing page is a blog filled with articles or posts with an optin box on the right side while a squeeze page is a single web page with bullet points and graphic or video with an optin box on the right side.

Although there are other variations such as optin box popping up right in the middle.

    2. Not if you are using free blog platorms like Blogger or Weebly. If you use Wordpress, I highly recommend you get Hostgator as your web hosting and Namecheap for domain registration.

    3. If you are just using Blogger and Wordpress, you can just publish it.

    4. For this to happen, I recommend 3 tools. One is Kompozer whereby you have to create squeeze page from scratch like how I got started which may or may not be suitable for others.

The other 2 is free landing or squeeze page generator which you can find through Google search and Optimize Press - which I highly recommend since I am now using this to create squeeze pages though the one-time price of $97 might not be affordable to everyone.

You may also try InstaBuilder which like Optimize Press create awesome landing, squeeze pages and membership sites.

5 If the clicker does not see it, yes you will lose opportunites to build a list and make money. That is why you need reliable platforms like those I mentioned above.

    6. To collect emails and optins, you need an autoresponder to create optin form, send follow up and promo emails or broadcast. For this I recommend Aweber since that is what most marketers use though there are others like Jaz Lai, Michael Cheney and Matt Bacak using Getresponse and iContact.

    7. No, they are not. They are categoried by the list you created for your niche and names and emails they filled in to get your free report or video.

    8. You can send emails as often as you want. Just don't spam them. Besides sending them promo emails, you might want to send them pure content emails with no links or just a link to your blog posts.

That is why besides having squeeze page, hosting, domain and autoresponder, you need to have a blog as well to let your subscribers see your face, know about you and trust you before they eventually buy whatever you recommend.

    9. No, your email will not be marked as spam if you are using autoresponder. Because by opting in for your free gift by giving you their name and email, they are also giving you permission to send them additional information and any product recommendations related to your gift that may help with their needs and wants.

If you are using normal email service like Gmail, Hotmail or Yahoo, yes you are spamming.

    Same for safelists as well.

Hope these answer your questions though someone else reading your post might have a different opinion or answer.

I wanted to add my 2 cents and make a few corrections. See below:

This is sort of correct. Actually, a landing page is any page on your website you want people to land on FIRST, before they see any of your other pages. Because people see this page first, you have the opportunity to design it specifically for any purpose you want - whether it's to collect emails, introduce yourself, or whatever. How do you get people to see it first? You use the URL of this page in ads or promotions. Your home page could also be the landing page for people that stumble upon your site. You can have various landing pages that serve different purposes.

      2. Not if you are using free blog platorms like Blogger or Weebly. If you use Wordpress, I highly recommend you get Hostgator as your web hosting and Namecheap for domain registration.

To explain further, a landing page is just a page on your site used for a specific purpose. It could be the ONLY page on that domain, but it could be part of a bigger site. So yes, you need a domain and hosting. Any page can be a landing page, depending on what you're using it for.

      3. If you are just using Blogger and Wordpress, you can just publish it.

      See above

      4. For this to happen, I recommend 3 tools. One is Kompozer whereby you have to create squeeze page from scratch like how I got started which may or may not be suitable for others.

The way people see this page first is to promote this URL only in ads or forums, etc. You can use special themes in Wordpress that hide all links to other parts of your site so that people will only see this page. The theme I use for this is Socrates, but Optimize Press I hear is also good.

I know there are other tools and I see some recommended here. I personally haven't used them.

The other 2 is free landing or squeeze page generator which you can find through Google search and Optimize Press - which I highly recommend since I am now using this to create squeeze pages though the one-time price of $97 might not be affordable to everyone.

5 If the clicker does not see it, yes you will lose opportunites to build a list and make money. That is why you need reliable platforms like those I mentioned above.

      Yes, I agree.

      6. To collect emails and optins, you need an autoresponder to create optin form, send follow up and promo emails or broadcast. For this I recommend Aweber since that is what most marketers use though there are others like Jaz Lai, Michael Cheney and Matt Bacak using Getresponse and iContact.

I use Aweber. Great tool. It seems Get Response is the next most popular auto-responder.

      7. No, they are not. They are categoried by the list you created for your niche and names and emails they filled in to get your free report or video.

Yes, I agree. Usually categorized by niche.

Yes, I agree. There are specific recommendations for sending emails. Some say 2-3 per week, others say 1 per day. What works for one person may not work for others. Test it out, and don't spam affiliate offers. Give valuable content people want to read.

Yes, I agree. The only option in my book is to use an auto-responder to prevent getting shut down for spamming.

      Same for safelists as well.

Hope these answer your questions though someone else reading your post might have a different opinion or answer.

    To me

Landing page is a page designed to get a fast response or lead to rich content, info.

Squeeze page is a high response content page usually with a HD Video and limited CTA's

    Example

    LOGO
    Minor Description

    CTA's

Watch Video and respond a video CTA
Easy email trap for email CTA
    Phone Number for CTA

So person that lands on a squeeze page which can also be considered a landing page by some, have a limited amount of possible CTA's

They can watch the video and respond
They can fill out the email trap
    They can call

Some lead to rich content as well as a CTA, like say it's a realtor, you may want to lead them to a page pulling MLM info of listings of the broker or the area they service, or a car dealer to inventory, etc.

So that's how we use the terms, but you may find some to define them in their own way.

Basically the main difference is in target, a Landing page may be designed to do well in organic traffic, so the importance of SQUEEZING the viewer for a CTA isn't as important as if it's a SQUEEZE PAGE used mostly in PPC where every CTA is based on a ROI of that viewer.

PPC pages need high response to make the ROI make sense

So you divert PPC traffic usually to SQUEEZE PAGES where you expect to see a high response ratio.

Most SE"s now need more content to do well in serp's so a landing page may be looser as to overall response ratio, since the traffic is organic and only cost you what the SEO and Development was.

    Good Luck

If you're talking about a squeeze page, then that's a page that has only 1 goal and that is to capture a visitor's eail address.

To capture a person's email address you best use an autorepsonder company such as Aweber, add athe opt in form on your squeeze page and the rest is automated. If you add a follow up sequence then that subscriber will receive all the follow up emails on the days you set.

That's why email marketing is so great, it's basically a one time set up and then you can focus solely on driving traffic and increasing your conversions

Anything you put online needs hosting -- be it free (not suggested) or paid. Most people consider things like Dropbox or Gmail to be separate services, but they're really just specialized free hosting. For a webpage, even one page, you need to host it somewhere. That's where "web hosts" comes into play.

I would suggest you choose your host wisely, however. (Not Hostgator, as suggested here, for example.)

Amuro and Tonester have said it all. But to add a little to what they have said, when planning to go for an autoresponder ( a service that collects, save and manages the emails and names from your Squeeze page), go for Aweber. Their user interface is very newbie friendly and it's of course about the best autoresponder for Internet Marketing. You can you Mailchimp.com as well if you're on a shoe string budget.

However, when you're all set and you find yourself in need of a high converting Squeeze Page and you're not very tech savvy, you can subscribe to our service here on the warrior forum using this link:

Please you should know that Squeeze Pages can be referred to as Landing Pages as well since it's on your Squeeze Page that you will want some of your first time visitors to land. Hence, it can be referred to as a Landing Page too.

I notice no one sad this and Thought I should chip this in.

      They're two different things.

A "landing page" is the simply the page on which you arrange for any given kind of traffic, from any source, to "land". It's up to you what your landing page is, or what you choose to use as a landing page for your traffic. A landing page can be a squeeze page; but it can be a sales page; it can be an article; it can be the home page of a blog; it can be a content-rich page; it can be anything you like. If it's where your traffic "lands", on clicking a link, then it's a "landing page". Don't imagine that all landing pages are trying to sell something, or trying to get people to opt in.

A "squeeze page" is one specific type of "opt-in page". It's a page which contains a prominently incentivized opt-in (usually text, but it can be video/audio instead or as well) and no other content. The idea of a squeeze page is that there are no other exits from it, no leaks at all, and (apart from the back button and the window-closing button) no option other than submitting contact information. Don't imagine that all pages with an opt-in on them are squeeze pages.

(For anyone still confused, the key words above are "and no other content": that's what specifically distinguishes a "squeeze page" from any other type of "opt-in page". )

hi all. Amazed at how unselfish all of you are w/your knowledge. Not sure I have much to offer yet (hoping to change that fast!) but the guidelines recommended replying on a forum vs. starting a new thread. I have a relevant question, I believe: Is it possible to have a landing page on a wordpress site that is 'stand-alone'? as opposed to appearing within the WP site itself? I have my landing page all done, but i don't like the way it looks on the page; seen so many standalone pages that look so sharp. Wondering how I can get it done. Thanks in advance.
