Default I Hate My Job

I hate my job and internet marketing looks to me to be the best option for a new career choice. I have been researching it for a couple months now and lurking in this forum for about two weeks.

I will be in and out of this forum, trying to learn as much as possible. I really do think that I can at least supplement my income using internet marketing techniques, but I do have some hesitations...

I think I have seen all the possible ways to make money, but I want to know if there are other ways. Lets do this in list form, and if you wish to comment, I am willing to listen and learn...

Adsense, PPC--- It seems that you can make some good pocket change with adsense, but from what I have seen you need a boat load of sites or blogs in order to make some real cash. I think people making $1000 or more a month with adsense must have it working on a large number of sites.

Affiliate Marketing--- I understand this concept, and it seems every top site has some sort of affiliate program from eBay to Amazon and even IM and SEO products. But is there big $$$ in this? I have never bought anything via an affiliate link in my life. If someone recommends something, I may find it with their affiliate link, but I dont usually buy something the first time I see it.

eBooks--- Besides referring people with affiliate links, you could always sell your own products. I like this idea myself since I enjoy writing. I even have a few ideas for products I may try to get out there. But with this one it seems that ebooks only sell well when they involve ways to make money. An ebook about making money online will sell, but would an ebook about training dogs, or knitting sweaters sell? I am not so sure.

Contracting Your Services--- I actually discovered this on Elance at the beginning of the year and did not even realize it. I saw a lot of listings for "a number of articles about such and such" or "multiple articles using these keywords". I never understood what they were for until I started researching IM and SEO. By the sheer number of listings for this type of service I could make some money writing other peoples blog posts and articles.

Articles--- I have seen how article posting on different sites can promote and create backlinks for your site in question, but is there really a way to make money writing articles?

I can not remember if I forgot anything. I know that you should not put all your eggs in one basket and the best way to make money online would be to use all these resources. I also know that the internet will not be my personal atm, and it does take a lot of work.

So I will be hanging around this forum and trying to better my knowledge of this stuff in order to step down from my position at work and go part time... maybe even quit altogether, but right now I need the medical benefits.

Sounds to me like your thoughts are pretty organized, and if you can get a good plan going and stay organized I'm sure you can do well. Don't be in too much of a rush. It can take time, but it will be worth it when you look back and remember when you used to have a "day job", as many here on the forum have done.

WMD you certainly have your head screwed on! Carefully think about what you want to achieve from what you are doing : i.e. do you want sense of satisfaction, do you want X amount of money a month, do you want to be creative, do you want to do alot of work, do you want to do not much work for good returns...

Once you've decided what you WANT, then narrow down the list to see what you are willing to DO to get that - that should lead you on the right path to success. But whatever you do, remember to stick at it, because chopping and changing between methods is often how people see themselves as 'failing' because they don't see the returns they were wanting...

Good luck in your choice

My guess is if you've done much buying on the internet you really have bought through affiliate links, you just don't realize it. You pick up cookies doing your reading/researching, and when you follow any kind of link, like in a blog or article, you could be clicking on an affiliate link, or being taken to an affiliates' website.

As for ebooks, I do buy ebooks on topics I am interested in other than making money. There are quite a few ebooks on how-to-write topics and animal topics that I enjoy.

If you look down the main page on this forum there will be a spot that says "Desperate Buyers Only". I highly recommend you buy and read this book before you create your own ebook. It was a real eye opener for me, and it will also help you decide on niches if you also go the affiliate route.

You've done yourself good by posting here. I wish you lots of success!

VMD,
I was a professional learner until a little over a year ago, when I started putting knowledge into practice.
I attended 6 Live Internet Marketing Events, made so many new friends, connected with some of the top names in IM and still floundered while making enough to pay the bills and make my living online.
It took time for me to better understand the application of all the knowledge I had acquired to realize what niches[s] and area of IM I wanted to concentrate on and where I was most comfortable and excited.
Don't be in a hurry, learn to earn, and be free to change course until you have found IT!
I wish you much success!

Be Awesome!

Why not look into domain buying/creating and selling?

Online real estate.

It's inexpensive to get into.

It seems to me you have already done a good research on what steps to take. This is a good sign.

You can also go to oDesk or freelancer for online jobs, you may check their postings if there is one that will fit you. All you have to do is create a good and impressive profile.

A lot of people submit articles via Ezine or other article dirctories, they get credits and earn as well. I am still learning ezine though.

So long as you make a good traffic to your site, everything else follows. Good luck!

You could think of ebooks in a much wider sense...information products. By developing content (ebook, report, an audio recording, etc...) you are entering into the information publishing and marketing business and there are many other back-end products that you can offer to your customers.

It's also worth saying that many people combine two or three of these income sources as they grow their internet business.

For example, they begin blogging, article writing to generate TRAFFIC which is then ideally sent toward a lead funnel where the objective is to build a LIST of subscribers. Once you have the list in a given marketplace, you can then offer them affiliate products, potentially services and your own ebooks and info products.

The good part about this model is that YOU own the list and YOU own the back-end monetization systems - control is a good thing when you are in business.

Don't forget about list building, the money is in the list! This falls into your affiliate category, you could make a blog for a niche use ppc to drive traffic to build a list quickly then send them some good info and every now and then send one of your products to sell or an affiliate product. you can also do the article marketing and use twitter. Just remember to try one thing at a time and not everything at once or else you will start something never finish and move to the next. Finish what you start and move to the next or if that first thing works for you, rinse and repeat.
