Clear concise call to action would be the best way to get optins. I've never actually paid for a banner ad myself, but I imagine if done correctly, the results could be great.

I think the banner ads would be best effective if you lead them to a free offer with a backend OTO, to get your return on investment and possibly more back from the advertisement.

I ran a banner ad for one day and had an squeeze page on it. I only got 29 subscribers and no orders. I was quite disappointed with that as I thought my offer was good. I then ran another banner for $100 without the squeeze page and still didn't get an order.

That was my experience. But you have to have a go and test it as it may work for you.

I keep the same ads over and over again...so that makes me think if done correctly it does give good ROI, else why would the same people keep paying for the same ad over and over again?

From my experience, you will get very few optins... If you get 30 optins, you are lucky! I would normally get 20 - 30 opt ins (about 125 clicks). I have found it to be more effective to send traffic to your sales page and skip the squeeze page.

I did a banner ad with strong call to action and got less then 20 Optins..I did Free Wso for $80 cheaper and got way more optins.

That all depends on how well your ad is created, great ad equals more clicks. Crappy ad less clicks.

Then after they click how compelling is your copy, is it worth opting in to your site?

Those things all factor in.

I wouldn't just ask randomly in a forum. I would test on your own.

I last time I really used the banner, I bought it for 30 days in a row, got thousands of leads and hundreds of dollars a day in revenue..

If you understand basic marketing principles you can do fine.

Right offer, Right audience, Great front end offer, great upsells

It's really just a matter of making sure your life time customer value is greater than your aquisistion cost.

Until you've tested your squeeze page and upped your conversions to it, I would hold off purchasing banner views. That is my take on it.

There's the answer to your question.

Ie; There is no answer.

Your own results will depend on a big number of variables.

The only way to know is to test yourself.

But here's a hint, see which ads keep appearing because people do not keep spending money unless they are making money.

It's all pretty speculative until you try it yourself of course.

There are so many factors to consider here.

I urge you to test your results and then share them as a product you could sell
here as a WSO.

Tell us your experiences, what you found with text vs image ad displays
and so on.

People are always looking for REAL LIFE case studies that can give them
a better insight into which direction they want to move towards next.
