Default Thanks Craigslist spammers.. I hate you

All I wanted to do was post 3 or 4 ads for my friend in different categories because he does Painting, he does landscaping, he does tile, etc.

I created a nice ad for each, then started posting. At about the 3rd one or so, (not sure , I also posted something for my wife) I was stopped saying I"ve reached my posting limit. Come on! So thanks to spammers, I have to act like one and get several accounts just to post a couple of ads for friends.

Action is the foundational key to all success. - Pablo Picasso

And yet we seem to have no problem with all the "How to get X number of Twitter followers" threads.

If you object to marketing on a site like Twitter, people will say "Look, it's their choice to add you as a friend, and they can remove you at any time."

Sounds similar to when the Craigslist spammers would say "Look, we're just offering a solution to people's needs."

If you attempt to argue beyond that, it will come down to a "We're marketers. If you are afraid to sell, you're not a real marketer" broadside.

I stopped using MySpace a while back because of all the spam friend requests I was getting. I struggle to think of a single email account that has not been violated by marketers, too.

This isn't a rant. Just saying how it is. The next time an innovative site is put up, you can bet your bottom dollar that it, too, will have marketers all over it.

Unfortunately, the spammers now rule over at CL. Have you looked at the personal section lately, it is full of piranha. I would never use an email account on CL that you don't want to be spammed as well. My advice is to use a throw away email form yahoo etc...

It's frustrating, but it's good because policies liek that will weed out the spammers. They'll just find easier places to congregate....

Besides, the fact that Craigslist lets me post ads that can potentially reach millions of peopleis really generous. I'm not complaining if they put a limit on how many ads I can post... even if it is because of the spammers.

I am also not keen on all the spam responses I get on the Craigslist ads I get. What I really wish is that there were a way to report them - if anyone knows of a way, please let me know. Despite the barrage of "have you heard of grants" emails I've been getting lately I do still find it beneficial to have my ads out there. (for our area it is still free to post ads)

No, it won't stop them

You know what it does? It makes software developers rich. Every time that CraigsList Updates security, so does the software that the developers make and the spammers use...Spammers are still spamming the same as they ever were.

The only people that the "additional security" protects are the people that try to use it the way it is supossed to be used...similar to gun laws
