Free Hosting and Domain

A lot of people says I can start my site and earn money without spending a dime. I know it can be via blogging, article marketing, etc. I write pretty neat articles. I have already learned how to get web traffic, based on what I read in this forum... Now my question, how am I going to get my own domain without spending any cent? Is free web hosting reliable enough? I have a free wordpress blog and I want to use that as my own domain. I am also planning to create a free blogger site so that I can see how I can earn from Google Adsense. Help this newbie please. thanks.

The idea is to use services like Blogger, WordPress.com, Hubpages and Squidoo to host blogs that generate revenue via AdSense and affiliate sales. Once you make some money you invest some of it into your business, which would include purchasing hosting and a domain name.

I would NOT recommend free hosting plans, essentially you get what you pay for. You don't need to spend any money to get started with the forementioned services, and you can use the money your make to expand you efforts further.

Mr. mywebwork, Thanks for the immediate reply... I already have a free Wordpress blog but I read on another thread Google adsense cannot be added in free WP blogs. I want to start with PPC first. What am I going to do then? Will Clickbank or any affiliate marketing work here?

Blogger will let you place AdSense on your blog, only problem is you share the revenue with them. Squidoo also lets you place ads and Amazon products on your lens.

You can use any of these platforms (including WordPress.com) to place your affiliate links and earn revenue from affiliate programs.

If you are just starting out I would advise extreme caution when using PPC - if you're not careful you can spend a lot of money very quickly with no return. There are some excellent guides to Google AdWords and other PPC programs out there, Perry Marshall's "Definitive Guide to Google AdWords" is a little old but still is the "bible" for PPC as far as I'm concerned.

Article marketing (which some refer to as 'Bum Marketing") is an excellent way to get started with no revenue.

Above all read the posts in this forum and absorb what you can from them - it's by far the best IM resource on the Internet today.

    Best of luck

You can still try free web hosting companies, that can allow you to install wordpress blogs. I mean it's free and there's no harm in trying.

I know of some free web hosts, where you can use fantastico and install wordpress, you can use a free sub domain or if you have a domain you can use that.. these can be good for starting out and getting the cash to buy ur own hosting & domain.

Free web hosting is not very reliable, once you make $10-15 , buy your own domain and hosting.

[B]To safe in the running of your site I highly recommend you to purchase your own domain and hosting. Invest a little money to get more!

Here the pros and cons if you still remain use free domain/hosting for your blog.

    Pros:

    1. You Don't Need to Build Your Blog from Scratch
    2. There is no Need for Maintenance
    3. You Don't Need to Pay for Your Domain

    Cons:

    1. The Splog Attack

In an effort to rid their services of splogs (spam blogs), Blogger might accidentally mark your blog as one and put your blog on hold. I had several niche blogs not so long ago, which were marked as splogs. You could contact Blogger to lift their temporary hold on your blog.

    2. Limitations in Customization

When you don't invest even a cent in your blog, the customizability is limited -- from widgets to monetization.

I have found multiple free hosting sites that allow you to install a blog via fantasia upload your own themes, advertise whatever you want, and they don't take anything from you, they don't even put ads on your site, here is an example of one i threw up last night just to test it! My Site! as you can see it's a sub domain but they allow you to add your own domain if you own one, and I have the flexibility 2 theme there! They say they have 99% up time, this could be used for tempororay income, then when you make some cash you can buy your own domain and hosting!

Free webhosting are not as bad as mot people make them out to be. I run web hosting where you can use a subdomain or your own domain name. You have control panel access as well as ftp.

Some put ads on your site and the above is set to do so by default but I'v disable it. There are many more such sites which a great for newbies to start off with and then move on to paid service later on down the line. If you want a free domain name just grab a co.cc to start with or grab a .info for around 99cents.

    Good luck.
