Monetizing Digg Traffic

Hey guys,

A friend of mine has a funny screen shot that I believe will be perfect for making the Digg rounds. If I put this image up on one one of my blogs/pages, what kind of monetization works well for Digg-type users nowadays?

I know it really depends on a lot of factors, but just curious if anyone has had some success with any sales from Digg traffic? I believe most Digg users are ad-blind...I know I am.

Digg traffic traditionally is horrible at monetizing. As you said, they're ad blind. The bounce rate is very high. They'll look at your pic, chuckle, and move on.

The benefit of Digg is the backlinks. If it makes it to the front page you'll have a PR8 backlink for a day or so. And you'll get lots of other backlinks as lots of bloggers cruise digg looking for things to link to. So chose the keywords in your Digg submission carefully. A front page on Digg can translate to a top 5 ranking for a competitive keyword very quickly.

A one hit wonder on Digg won't do you much good, but if you can figure out how to always have something in the mix you can do quite well.

One last tip: Get a power digger to submit that story for you. The most awesome content in the world will go absolutely nowhere on Digg if you submit it from a new account.
