Buying / Selling SEO

Hi,

I had put in a REQ with one of the worksites (like Elance.com) to fix a google result for a website so that it looks like the one for Microsoft (it has "Microsoft" but under it are subheadings like "Careers", "Downloads", "Support", etc.). I also wanted a "Rich Snippet".

I got lots of responses but most saying that they needed from 2 weeks to 2 months to put this in citing that they could do SEO to get me to the top of the search list for key words. Of course, one has to pay the hourly rate during this time. I reiterated that I did not want SEO but just wanted what was explained above.

I still got back that time was needed to make it happen. How can you know if they can make it happen at all? It seems to be a long time to pay money without seeing any result.

I did some research and found that a sitemap could be put in with sitemap.xml and that the Rich Snippet can be a plug-in for Wordpress. Given that is the case, I am not seeing why it takes so long to make things happen either - i.e. why 2 weeks - 2 months are needed.

Am I missing something here?

    If you find a pro: easy. Can be done basically instantly. You are right, with plugins or manually. That's for the rich snipped part.

    If somebody says it take long time they either have no clue or they mean until everything is completely updated in all Google Data centers world wide and showing everywhere.

    The authority page stuff: that can take some time. Basically the site needs to be build accordingly and updated and then referenced (links, articles, press releases) and queries need to be initiated (mTurk stuff).

    I suggest to post this on WF under warrior for hire and explicitly ask for examples where the person has achieved what you want for several other sites. Then ask for reference customers and reach out to them.

    I would not hire any company for SEO stuff if that company or person has not proven that they are good and use purely white hat stuff that Matt Cutts would personally approve.
