People who click but don't opt in. Question!

I have a question about people who click the link on your email, but then don't click to confirm.

What are your thoughts on sending them a reminder about opting in.

I know it is not strictly correct, but they have expressed an interest in what you are offering, and it could be that they have just forgotton to opt in.

If they want what you are offering bad enough they won't forget trust me.

My philosophy is if they forget to opt-in to my list after they sign up they are either lazy or not serious about building there own online business.

I am glad they forgot I don't want them on my list anyways

That's ok to send them the same offer a few more times, but it's better to use a different email template each time. Also, keep in mind that people often click just out of pure curiosity, without any intention to opt-in.

I'd definitely send them one reminder if they didn't click on the link in the email.

If they click, though, but don't confirm, then I would just leave them. It's not worth the effort anyway.

If they really need/want your free offer, they will confirm on their email just to get it.
You need to setup the thank you page and educate them that they need to confirm their email address before they it will be delivered to them to avoid spam complains.

In essence, if they open the email and didn't confirm, you will be glad they didn't because they really are not the super targeted audience for you.

Maybe an automatic thank-you-for-clicking-here message with a reminder for opting in...

On my blog I have single opt in but sometimes Aweber requires confirmed opt in on emails it thinks are dodgy or through particular opt in methods (like API - but email them and they will review your site and turn it off if they see it's a legit opt in) so you can end up with people who subscribed but didn't make it on your list as they didn't see / get the confirmation email.

Recently I've been sending off a personal email to anyone who fits this description telling them their subscription wasn't confirmed and what they are missing out on.

Converts well. I learned from another blogger (forget his name now!) who personally emailed me to tell me I hadn't confirmed. Good trick.

ugh...NO. They didn't optin because they probably know they will be spammed to death until they buy or unsubscribe. Sending them a reminder is a big no no.

Forget to optin ? Come on....not everyone is a greenhorn

Another point though, why do some people optin in false emails that bounce back right away? What's the point in this?

    emails like qqqqqqyyyyyyytttt@yhoo.com

    I never get that.

Because they think whatever you're offering is on the page behind the submit button and they'll receive it instantly after submitting the form.

You mean confirming their subscription to your list?

So you are working with double opt ins?

I would not even do that at all. Most very successful marketers online just use single opt ins to build their list.

Just my 2 cents, TEST TEST TEST .... if it works for you, then you either have a product in the making, a webinar, etccc in other words if you have time and you just want to do a case study , you can either sell or give away either to build your list is up to you

  • I know some people lost their Aweber accounts over this. I would ask Aweber see if it's maybe against their TOS. It's at the very least on the gray scale I think.

Do you really want them on your list?
