Best way to run competition?

Hi folks!

I would like to run a small online competition where I'll offer a price in exchange for small action online, no money, credit cards or such stuff involved.
Maybe somebody have an experience with such thing, how should I do it, where to start and how to expose it to audience?

Think about the following, and you'll have a good start:
    Who is your audience?
    What is the prize?
    What is the required action?
    Where is your audience?
    - Do you already have their attention (i.e. - a list) or is it cold traffic?
What are the regulations for giveaways/contests in your country?
How small is small, and why do you want it to be small, rather than large?
Does everyone get a prize or is it just one person?
What do the "losers" gain? (Why would they care to participate beyond the possible prize?)
How will you capture these leads, if that is your goal?

good questions, I'll try to answer.
Audience are common folks who have a animals, home pets, farming animals etc, you get a point.
Price, well, not sure yet, but something around $200, some device, like Kindle e-reader or something like that.
Action- well, short stories about their animals, something fun, sad, amazing etc., something worth to write about. Best story gets price (obviously not everybody or that wouldn't be a competition).
To big I just wouldn't be able to manage.
