What do you consider "value"?

Just curious to know what you would consider "value."

The term gets thrown around a lot but most people fail to realize "value" is a vague term and people will take it differently from how you took it.

Hopefully this thread can clear up some confusion and we can all learn from each other.

My definition of value would be:

The practice in delivering instant results to your leads. Getting them from point A to point B as quickly as possible.

What do you think?

Value is anything that will positively impact a person's life.

This can be through humor, entertainment, uplifting, giving hope, inspriation, motivation, etc.

    Basically, anything positive.

Value is when I buy something and learn something of interest from it. It could well be a book where I learn one thing from one page and the rest of the book is no use to me. As long as I have learnt something that improves my knowledge, I have gained value.

Value is delivered when you help your customers to achieve the results they want to achieve. <-- Pure gold (if I do say so myself!)

Value to me is giving or receiving something that makes them/me happy.
It doesn't have to enrich my life, it doesn't have to change it, but if it informs me or makes me smile, then it's valuable

  • Value to me is when helping someone to understanding something that is giving them a hard time and you show them a way out of it or it can be something you giveaway which will be in good use to them

It can be strange. Many people value the product on looks and quality regardless of whether it actually works or not. The "thud" factor i believe.

"oh look 400 pages and 5 shiny cd's it must be great"

The true value is if applied can it make you money? or do as it says on the tin. I couldn't give a crap if it's written on toilet paper.

Value is truly interesting in the realm of sales and marketing. There are 2 forms of value. there is money oriented value. and there is time oriented value.

Money oriented value, I will use Walmart as an example. They focus clearly on getting the best value for your dollar. so much so, that people really don't like going there... why you ask? because they do not value our time. Ill explain... Would you go to walmart to get 1 item? probably not... the reason being the layout of the store prohibits a quick in and out.

In truth this pattern starts before you even get in the door. The parking lot... you end up parking 3000 miles from the door. The slots are 6" tighter than your average parking spot, so getting in and out takes time ( so when people are taking for ever to get out of a parking spot you now know why. ) Between the expecting mom and handicap spaces they have more than are required by law ( I personally don't think this is a bad thing )

They position greater amounts of cart returns around the isles in front of the doors, creating less parking. The door are all the way to the left or right. we all inevidably park on the wrong end.

The products that are MOST purchased are in the back of the store. ( with the exception of bananas ) There are never enough cash registers open. the wide isles are piled down the center with product to be put on the shelf ( at all times of day ) making it more difficult to get from say food to clothes.

So with all of that why do we go? RollBacks... Low price guarantees... the over all enigma they are cheaper... Its about the VALUE!

So the other side of the coin is Value as it is related to time. Studies show time and again pitching a savings in time will beat out a savings in money 70%+ of the time. To value another persons Time is to value THEM personally. Money is money but TIME is valuable!

Look at the weight loss niche. do you see articles like "5 cost saving tips to loosing weight!" or do you see "10 minute workout 3 times a week and shed the pounds!"

      That's my 5 minutes worth!

      Hope that Helps!

Scratching the itch of your followers or customers.

Some people love to learn. Just providing tutorials could be enough.

Solving a solution is another way of providing value.

My definition of value is actually pretty simple, it's anything that is of importance to me. In the internet marketing niche I value my traffic, customer support, sales, and earnings.

    Hi Solo,

Solving a problem faced by your target audience. Filling a need. Any act helping someone address a need, is valuable. Look at WF. Marketers need something, ideas, strategies, we provide it. Value can be great, or small, in depth, short and punchy, matters not.

    Thanks!

I have to agree with everything I read here from everybody. No arguments with any of it. Value can certainly come in different forms for different people at different times.

My basic definition is solving a problem that a person or group has at a specific point in time. Lasting value is a solution that works from here out. Lasting value is hard to find but it still exists.

Good question. It created a good discussion.

For me it is a simple Formula..Delivery > Promise. Those who over deliver in their product download pages than whats stated in the pitch is the best provider of value - no holds barred!
