Twitter Gurus...Twitter Me This...

So I've been a full time internet marketer for about 8 years and I've made a ton of money even though I don't have a FaceBook account, I don't have a MySpace page and I don't have a clue about what exactly "social bookmarking" is... (I'm a young guy that prefers old-school all the way)

In any case, here's my question -

About two days ago I setup a Twitter account (under a pen name so that my testing wouldnt be influenced by any existing 'crazy' fans of my stuff), just because I wanted to see what the interface looked like.

I made zero posts, followed 3 marketers as a test and ended up with 20 followers and growing every hour.

What the heck? I thought we're supposed to look for Twitter followers -- not have them jump all over us the minute we create an account. Why are these folks following me? (Am I being stalked? LOL)

What I mean, is what do the followers get out of following a postless Twitter account? (Or is that Tweetless?)

Just curious...

I believe it is about following someone
and hoping he/she follows you back.

That is one of the tactics people use
to get more followers. It is called "Twitter Effect"

lol that happened to me to I couldn't figure out why.

Then I got informed - its an automated tactic people use to get followers.
Basically they find people in a specific niche through a search and once its connect it to your twitter account you get extra headings on your followers page. From there you can sellect one of your followers or one you are following and click on follow their followers.

More details on how it all works are on User Search | Twitter Grader

    Hi there

a lot of people follow who they class as successful marketers or successful twitters. So if out of those few people you followed was someone of substance you will have guaranteed followers. When i was experimenting when i wrote my first free twitter ebook in february i checked out this method and on one day just followed people that are well known i.e. willie crawford and the next day stuck to people with practically zero followers.

The day i followed willie crawford i got shed loads of followers even though he didnt actually use it that much at the time as he was also getting into it.

people are obsessed with numbers and the idea is that every new follower is a future customer therefore they will also follow people that are interested in the same things as you.

    kind regards

I'm the Twitter 'newbie' here, so I won't speculate too much, but based on what others have said, perhaps it's because of the niche/people you are following.

I chose the broad IM niche and followed John Reese, David_Frey and another marketing friend named Ken Germann.

Since 2 of those 3 are very well known marketers, I suspect that their followers got alerted to my new Twitter account and got busy following me in the hopes that I would auto-follow them back.

If you're in a less Twitter savvy niche (like say, the knitting niche), I doubt that you'd get a flood of people following you because that crowd probably isn't trying to jockey for building the largest Twitter fan/following base.

I've made money with a lot of things. AdSense, affiliate marketing, my own products, ezine advertising, article marketing and I'll probably make some money from Twitter if you give me a couple of days to figure it out.

I know you'd probably appreciate more specifics, but it all really depends on what you want GET from your business...

Making money online is (kinda) easy. But finding ways to make money that suits what YOU want to achieve with your business is the real challenge.

For example, everyone reading this post can find an expert, negotiate for an exclusive interview with that person (free) and then turn that interview into a product and sell it right here on the warrior forum (and several people here do that on a regular basis.)

But here's the problem, some are too intimidated to contact the experts, some are too lazy to try it and some will think it's a great idea and just procrastinate until nothing gets done about it.

Others will actually do the work, create the product, sell the darn thing and then be stuck having to do it all over again. (And some of us don't like that idea).

So really the first step isn't figuring out how to sell a bunch of stuff, it's all about figuring out what kind of lifestyle you want to live and then finding a business model that will support that lifestyle.

And it always comes down to trade-offs.

Do you want to handle shipping? No? Then go digital only -- but the trade off is that you'll never make the millions that physical products could generate.

So you want to keep creating new products? No? Then you should probably create some automated online service-type website or focus on building a team of outsourcers (is that a word???) that you can trust.

It would be foolish of me to tell you how to make money by creating products if its really not something you enjoy.

If you have anything worth buying (valuable information) then the easiest money you'll ever make when you're just getting started is probably just running a Warrior Special Offer right here in the Warrior Special Offer forum.

I saw a post by Jack Duncan here in the main forum a few days ago that could easily produce a six figure business for anyone here. So why will only a few make any money at all from the strategy he laid out?

Because it requires quite a lot of work.

There's no limit to the ways you can generate cash. But we all have a limit when it comes to what we are *willing to do* to produce that revenue.
