Is Pay To Sticky for WSO Worth It?

Fellow Warriors,

Since I'm running a WSO, I saw that new feature called Pay To Sticky to bump and stick your thread at the top of the 1st page for $200. It seems like a number of WSO vendors paid that money to make their threads "stick" at the top.

I just want to find out if that was worth it. I've been watching closely to all those vendors to see if they come back and do it again. And I did see a couple of vendors did that. But a lot of them did not.

What are your thoughts on this?

Only way to know for sure is to test with your own offer. Every offer will be different.

But I think I'd rather get more eyeballs by bumping my offer ten times for that same $200.

Or spending that $200 on affiliate recruitment/management.

      Yes. This is so true..

If you bump your WSO at the right times, you can have it stick in the top 10-15 spots for up to 12 hours, and if you do this 10 times at $20 a bump..

Well lets just say you're saving a lot of money and getting more results!

For this kind of money risk, especially at this level, I might try to wait for someone else to try it first and report in.

That's what I'm thinking as well. Though you get a lot of views by being up there, it's only for 24 hours. I think that's why those vendors who tried it do not come back. And it only works out if the price of what you're selling is somewhat greater than $200. : )

I've purchased stickies on other marketing forums before and for the most part it was very worth it, difference being that the price was nowhere near $200 a day. I would assume the price is so high because of the immense amount of traffic the WSO section receives. Your best bet would be to purchase the sticky for one day.

You might want to test your headline's copy, and conversions first. If you find you have a winning offer then try the "sticky".

If your offer doesn't convert using regular channels it won't matter where you 'stick it'

Try the headlines first, testing your click through to the landing page. Then when you feel you got that optimized go next to tweak your lander.

I would think that it would be well worth paying for Sticky for your WSO only AFTER you have done thorough testing.

It would be interesting to see how much of that traffic actually comes in via the "front door" so to speak as opposed to directly to specific offers via affiliate marketing, list marketing, signature marketing, etc.

I haven't tried the sticky, but I imagine it works wonders for the right WSO. Your best bet would be to test the $20 bump, and if your sales are low with that, then there's a good chance they will be slow with the $200 sticky bump.

I agree..Make some bumps, test your WSO and see if it appeals. For those who sticked their WSO for a 2nd round, did you contact them and ask how it went?

I think I would prefer to bump if a few times, although to be honest, I have never tried the sticky.

I suppose you could, as someone has already said, contact someone who has used the sticky and see how they got on.

It is a lot of money!

I haven't tried it but i think the price is a little high. If you're selling a $10 product i can't believe it's worth it actually compared to just bumping your thread.

I think buying banner space here might even be more profitable.

Nobody has mentioned it yet but it would be interesting to see how a free wso would go up there

I think that if you are going to throw down that sort of money, you want to be getting as many conversions as possible, so i think a free wso would be the way to go

I know that when i do a normal bump for a free wso i get between 50 - 100 new subs

So it would be worth a try

As previously stated though, make sure you have everything optimised as best as possible before trying it out

Be sure to let us know how it goes

I agree. Although you would have to test, and test over several days to be sure, I highly doubt this is going to be profitable. $200 is a lot for a day as a sticky post. Also many people look right past them and focus on the main forum content / posts. Sure the only real way would be to test for say a week and see. But for $1400 to test for a week and very little belief that it will be profitable Ill pass. I mostly believe this pay to post sticky is just the result of a business / profit oriented company trying to monetize any way they can without having a real understanding of the forum, its users, or the IM business in general.

            I know I do.

Also, regarding testing...does the WF provide you with a way to track what % of visitors to your WSO come from directly clicking on your sticky thread as opposed to those that come from affiliate links, sig file links, etc.?

I guess you could analyze the affiliate data and subtract it out manually, disable your sig file links, & stop emailing your list while you test your offer using the new sticky feature.

The best way to know if your WSO will work as a "sticky" is to test your offer out for a day or two and see if it is working for you.

It's the same thing for the classified section I see.

THIS. Don't shell out $200 before testing with $20.

I think it's not a bad idea, but the pricing is wrong. $200 for a sticky shown only in that section as opposed to $100 for a sitewide banner doesn't make sense. I'd go with the banner any day, and I have, with good results.

Hmmm I would like to know why the sticky post is $200 and you can do banner ad for $100 and everyone who logs into WF see them value for money would be banner ad ?

$200 sticky for 2 days and only 4-5 ads at once makes more sense to me.

    Hi,

    1. Why don't you TEST to see how it does as a $20 investment first then
if you keep making your money back or make or profit then you can make
a better decision to see if a STICKY will work for you.

    2. You shouldn't just be thinking SHORT term either because if you can get
consistent BUYERS into your lists by investing in the STICKY method then
you need to remember that you can make much more from each buyer at
the back end of your sales funnel.

interesting how many of the players have all moved to JV lists.. I think having an offer on a forum such as this requires much more work especially if your dealing with a shady past.

now they just piggyback of the credibility of people with large lists. without any flack

If you have something unique to offer I suppose most people scroll down anyway to find it, we all glance over all the results right?

If it's another make $5000 in 7 days it might be useful to stay on the top to avoid being skipped over.

Personally I rather bump my thread 10 times same like others have mentioned, mainly because my service is a little more expensive and most people don't buy the first time they see an ad, they need to see it multiple times before they take action.

I see it quite often, if I bump my thread let's say only once in 2 weeks I hardly ever make a sale, if I bump it every 2 days or so I stay in the picture and then it does lead to regular sales. Not really an impuls buy of people opposed to a $7 WSO with a funnel where people don't care to shell out a few bucks.
