Record a video and yourself simultaneously

Hi Warriors, I need a little help. My daughter wants to make reaction videos for whatever reason. She wants the biggest part of the screen to be her and at the top will be a smaller screen showing whatever video she's reacting to.

Everything I've seen so far has the screen taking up the biggest portion and the person's face is small and down in a corner. She wants the opposite. She wants her face to be the big part and the video to be small and at the top.

Does anyone know a free or low cost program that she can use?

TIA

ETA: Something like this where the video she's watching will be up in a corner.

You can do this with Camtasia.

But you should also consider copyright violations. If the music video or whatever she's watching is the smaller insert, then that's probably safer. Still it's technically going to violate YT terms. So just something to consider.

Thanks for the response, Jeff. I know Camtasia is good but unfortunately it doesn't meet the criteria of being free or low cost. I'm trying to find her something that won't break the bank.

I hadn't thought about copyright issues, so thanks for bringing it up. I'll make sure I mention that to her.

Screencast-o-matic is a pretty good (and much cheaper) alternative to Camtasia.

If it is for a short term project Camtasia may still be an option, as they have a 30 day free trial.

I would have to echo the other comments and say that Camtasia Studio provides the best option for doing picture-in-picture

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I guess I'll tell her about Camtasia but if she gets attached and wants to use it for more than a month, she may be out of luck.

I was looking at some video software yesterday and found ezvid.com, this may be what you are looking for.
It's free but they ask for a donation first. (optional)

If you have a Mac you can do this easily with iMovie.

I also heard you can do it wth PC WMM 6.0
        Movie Maker Forums

Another trick if you have a smart phone would be to skype yourself and overlay the movie in a second window.
