Physical product - Landing page to get email or not?

Hi Warriors,

I have set up my website (using Responsive WP theme) which will sell my product - which is an innovative impulse buy $20 solution to a common style problem for men.

Will try to generate traffic initially from Facebook Ads (unless someone has a better idea?).

Would it be better to try and convince people to come to my :

- Homepage (quick intro to product, short funny video about the problem and solution and call to action (BUY) button

- Sales page - professionally written sales letter with a call to action (BUY) button

- OR to have a landing page such as https://www.leadpages.net/products/ to get their email address first? I don't know if this has more value for me?

All advertising will focus on the issue, i.e. "Do you suffer from xxx? Well we have the solution, 100% guaranteed" so I figured if necessary I can use the landing page to get their email address before I describe the product and solution?

What are your thoughts?

Why not capture emails? If you're tracking visitors you ought to know that some might need several visits before they buy anyway, so why not remind them that you exist?

In the future you may have more products they will be interested in. Although you'll have their physical address (assuming they bought from you), it's still cheaper to send emails than postcards or letters especially to thousands of people.

Capturing emails BEFORE they buy is your best option, just offer a short electronic document - perhaps on 'style tips' if that's your niche, as a thank you for signing up. Ongoing tips within your niche (branding you as an 'expert' and more trustworthy) will also help your sales cause.

In short, don't miss a chance to grab their details. The old marketing adage that it cost ten times as much to get a customer as to keeping one still holds true. The ratio may not be as high these days, but the principle is the same.

Thanks and I thought the same thing before but honestly I can't find anything to give away free (PLR rights) and it would cost a fair amount to make something.

I wonder if there's any way people would input their email without a giveaway?

Unless you can really provide a big incentive and reason for people to join a mailing list you're probably better off going for a straight sale. I mean, I'm speaking just for myself here, but if I see a product I'm interested in buying I don't want to join a mailing list for more info. I just want to buy it (or don't).

People DO buy stuff from clicking on Facebook Ads, but you need a big margin on your product and good targeting.

To the first question - I would send the visitors to your homepage or sales page depending on how the website is set up and how easy it is to navigate. I'd test and then go with the better of these two options.

To the second question - I would offer your customers a discount (10%) or free shipping in return for their email. I'd also let them know up front that they'll receive emails, new product notifications, etc from you in the future.

The other way to create value to sign up for your list is by offering free shipping. I use amazon fulfillment for my products and they cost less than $5 to ship. I have $5 flat shipping rate on my site. However, during the checkout process, you can get free shipping if you share your purchase on Facebook/Twitter. The markup on my product is around 375%, so we can afford it for the word-of-mouth advertising it brings.

    Hi,

If you get them onto an email list FIRST then you get UNLIMITED bites of
    the cherry.

There's nothing worse then seeing a visitor hit your site, spend some time
there, LEAVE & never come back!

That's why we capture their email address.

List first, relationship, sales, more sales, BIG TICKET offers.

Here on WF we strongly believe in email lists and for a very good reason

Being able to upsell more and more products at virtually zero cost does make a lot of sense. Don't you agree?

If you are going to use Facebook ads you will pay much more to drive them to a site other than Facebook. Drive them to an offer page/app on Facebook that forces them to share their info for some sort of discount/special offer on your solution. This way you reduce click costs, build a list and still sell product.

    get their email address first?
Yes. If people don't buy right away you'll want to follow up. Also, you can promote related products later on.

You should capture their email address and redirect your subscribers to your sales page.

Then you should use follow up emails about your product and other products in that niche.
