Hello Dear Warriors,

I am looking to start a new site I have had blogging about 2-3 years back but due to busy schedule was unable to update it more frequently, hence decided to quit it.Now I wish to resume it again , but I am bit confused on what niche shall I target. I would just like to provide you with few inputs and would like to have your expert advice.

About Me:-
1. I can write good quality copy-scape pass articles that are about 300-500 words long.
2. Couple of my articles were ranked in top 3 Google SERP positions sports, entertainment and tech keywords.
3.Several others in image search.
4.Write 2-3 blog post per week.

Why blogging ? :-
1.To make steady income, in short time about $5-$10 a day from adsense, however I am open to other alternatives also.

What do I expect from you ?
1.I would like your input on what niche should I select in writing the blog ? I had few SERP keywords related to tech and sports domain, I would like to stick a particular niche though. So which domain shall I target so as to get benefitted in long term and achieve my goals in short term also.
2. A good niche and tips for a niche site.

For Experts, by now it would be really very clear as they can easily conclude what I mean and by know they would surely have a rough idea about my writing skills.

Thanks,
onkar

    Hi Onkar

My tips would be to write/ build your blog around a niche that you have a personal passion for. You could also write topics related to your own personal experiences and the personal experiences of your friends and family.

The below post I wrote might help you on choosing your niche topic:

As for blogging, then you need to write frequently and provide good content that keeps your reader base interested in what you have to say.

    Kind regards

The niche where people are already making money in.

Pick one that people are making money. That was my first mistake. My first niche was peopel looking for jobs.

    High demand right?

Well... it's hard to get people who dont have jobs to spend money. But if you're banking on adsense then I guess where the traffic is hot.

Just pick a unique angle so people visit your site and you stand out among so many others.

If you want to start Blogging, FOLLOW YOUR PASSION ! People often go to money making niches and end up losing interest.

Just take a look at your interests. If you follow a sport.. a particular team then you can blog about them. If you watch alot of movies/tv start a review blog. If you love to travel, cook, paint etc start an experience blog.
The point is, you need a niche where you wont lose interest in.

You do not have to follow your passion as GURUS suggest, they are trying to help you keep interested long enough to make money. If your passion has money in it and a demand, then go for it, if not don't do it.

What you can also do, go for the evergreen niches, that are highly competitive, and possibly a sub niche of that niche, the point is you are going to blog about something that already sells and do not have to figure it out if it will sell or not sell.

Either way you cut it, it is going to require work to blog, lots of it, so if you go for something that is hot and always be hot, then at least you know for sure the audience is there and you all have to do is get your share of the pie ;>)

Although onpointinfo makes several good points, and those should be taken into consideration, you need to find a niche that will hold your interest for the long term. Perhaps it does not have to be your "passion" but it certainly has to be something that you are interested in reading and writing about. Otherwise, I'd say the chances are about 99% that you will abandon it before it reaches the critical point where your efforts begin to pay off.

I agree that passion is fine as long as you have done your research and there is a large enough market.
I'm sure we are all wanting to see some income from our ventures, whatever level we are at, and there is nothing more frustrating than putting time and effort into research, blog posting and marketing for no chance of a return if the market just isn't there.
But this is one of the challenges isn't it? It might be simple, but nobody said it's easy!

My advice would be to not depend on Adsense as your primary income. Especially for a small site. Why make pennies when you could make dollars? I'd say find another monetization method. One affiliate sale, or one sale of your own product PER WEEK could make you the $5-10 PER DAY you want to make in Adsense.

Jump into something. Find a small niche like "how to restore a corrupted hard drive" (or something stupid like that). Follow the advice on WF, and sell normally. Don't be tempted to jump into a large niche because there's not millions of people every month looking for hard drive advice.

Looks like the viral news is very hot right, everybody is doing it, the question is how much time you have till you get profitable. The thing to choose something you're passionate about is that you can provide good content without being a big headache for you. Imagine you have to write content about something that you don't like everyday. You can still do it at the beginning and then hire someone to do it for you.
