More Work Than It's Worth?

Hello everyone

Very new here and very new to IM, to the point of information overload during the past week, so my direction has been all over the place

Whilst researching something this evening I came across a site which instantly caught my attention - yet again taken away from what I was actually doing!

But, it suddenly started opening up all ideas in my head as to how that one website and its products could very easily be "plugged in" to a very much bigger website, offering its products (which were physical products and no indication of any affiliate program) as well as online products which I could source, plus alot of general blog/website content. The website I am interested in creating would appeal to a very wide age band as well as a wide range of subjects, both serious and fun, as well as "others" products/resources - all of which I would need to research more, plus I have found a couple of JV ventures on here which would fit in very nicely.

My concern with this is that I may be well out of my depth and trying to run before I can walk, bearing in mind I haven't even created a single squeeze page, created emails for (or even bought yet) an autoresponder.

I really do need to start making an income asap and I think my idea has alot of mileage in it but possibly not the quickest route to making some money.

I appreciate this is possibly going to be difficult for anyone to give advice on, because I haven't stated the nature of the produce/service I am interested in providing, and I have to say it is not something that had even crossed my mind until I came across this one website.

As I said, I really need to be making an income asap and this might well be something for the back burner, which I can just work on consistently, whilst getting something else in place to kick start some income.

Does any of that make sense to anyone?

Any advice/help at all would be very gratefully received.

Sue

PS - The subject I am considering never even entered my head until that one website - is that a good sign I wonder?

Hi Sue, with my 5 years online marketing I can say that you should focus on a small niche instead of offering everything for everybody.I have noticed that too many options will confuse the visitors and they will not buy anything.Instead, setup a blog for every product you are offering.Build content on the blog related to the product you are selling and recommend the product as a solution to the "problem".You should start small and build up your business over time.

PM me If you need help in creating a professional Wordpress blog.

Hi Sue and welcome to the forum

I think I get the gist of what you are saying and I'd warn you to be cautious as you may find yourself falling into the "Newbie" trap of jumping from one project to another without actually accomplishing anything. (Its very easy to do).

I'd put it on the back burner for now until you actually have some kind of business plan in situ and you know what it is you actually want to accomplish online

    Menorca huh (you lucky thing)

    Regards
    Kim

    Hi Sue,

It's quite easy to get carried away with all the different ideas that pop up during each day. They are distractions and trying to pursue them will lead to failure. Make a note of them as they may come in handy in the future, but to start out you need to concentrate on one idea, one system.

Pick a system, any money making system, e.g. bum marketing, and write out a brief plan of action. Follow that plan to it's conclusion and to the exclusion of everything else. Keep records of everything. Those records will show how well the system is performing and serve as a bench mark for any modifications to the system.

Once the system starts to make a decent profit, look for ways to automate it or ways to outsource the work. Now start working on a new system (from your list of ideas)...

You're answering your own question Sue.

Listen to what the previous posters have said - you know they're right!

A little bit of targeted focus will reap rewards quite quickly if you do it right. Once you've had that small taste of success it'll be easier for you to remind yourself what CAN be achieved if you stay on track.

Thank you all for your responses - I stupidly didn't subscribe to my own thread so didn't realise anyone had responded.

This forum is proving an absolute Godsend. Being able to discuss ideas and thoughts with other people is so important. When you are sitting in front of a computer all day, on your own, you can so easily get carried away with "good ideas" (as in my case last night) so thank you again for the reality check.

I haven't looked into article marketing, just affiliate marketing so far, but it's understanding the mechanics of the whole thing which is letting me down at the moment. But, as people keep saying "just do it" - it is the only way to learn what works and what doesn't.

Thanks again (Menorca is beautiful and sunny and very warm this morning )

      Sue
