  It is actually a great way to develop new topic ideas, or maybe expand on something that the author did not. You can easily see which type of posts work well or which have been shared the most to further develop a content strategy.
  
  I always look at the amount of shares and comments the post has. It really depends on your niche with what numbers to use for a "good" post. topsy is a really good way to stay on top of your industry and see what people are sharing or talking about.

  Just type in the URL and click on "Social Analysis" it will show you exactly how many social shares (exactly what social network too) each page on their site got. So you can easily see what are the top shared posts on any site.
