Breaking up the Monotony

If you're broke like me, you only have one way to go about marketing your products . . . the free way.

So, I've created my product - fun stuff.
I've designed my website - fun stuff.
I tested everything to make sure it worked - fun stuff.
I implemented all of the quick traffic generating methods that I know - fun stuff.
Now I have to write 50 articles - *drums of doom* Not so fun.

A lot of marketers complain about having to write so many articles. I can see why. I want to get a job just so that I can afford to outsource this aspect. After 10 articles I'm pretty burnt out on writing about the same thing over and over again.

This is going to be a noob question. I want opinions on it, how much you think it would hurt my overall campaign.

I have one product right now and I have quite a few lined up under the same niche that I plan on coming out with. Since Ezinearticles doesn't allow direct links to product pages, I created a Squidoo lens to group all of my products under. So basically, every article I EVER write on my niche is going to point back to the same Squidoo lens.

I was wondering if, since I enjoy doing the other stuff, I should take a break on writing articles and not do it every day since it burns me out. I was thinking of writing articles every other day, and using the between days to work on new products and design new sites. . . at least until I can afford to outsource the article writing part.

Does anyone think this is a good idea? I know it will slow down the actual marketing part of my campaign . . . which is imperative to people actually seeing my product. But I HATE getting to the point where I'm sitting in front of the computer, staring blankly at the screen, and my body and brain just plum refuses to produce any more articles.

How do you break up the monotony of marketing?

    Hi Ofthemix!

I know article writing can be a drag but it is one of the consistent sources of traffic that I know of today. Take it one step at a time.

I would guess that you're writing until you can't take it anymore. Try a change in your approach.

Instead of writing until your head explodes, write a certain number of articles a day. Make it a manageable number.

Also, think about shifting your goals from short term to long-term. That is, instead of churning out articles to get short-term traffic to your product, think about setting up your articles so they yield you constant long-term traffic.

You can do it by focusing your articles on various long-term keyword phrases that can get your articles indexed in Google quickly. Throw in some backlinks to your articles and now you have articles showing up on Page one on Google for various phrases.

All it takes are two main components: 1) Figuring out the long term keyword phrases associated with your product/niche 2)Backlinking to your articles.

Many people are backlinking directly to their product which is fine but my argument is that you can do the same to your articles. Article websites have higher existing PageRank than many product/affiliate websites, so leverage that to your advantage.

You can direct link on EzineArticles by redirecting a top level domain (like a .info - which costs $1 on GoDaddy) to your affiliate link.

Plus, all you need to do is have all of you links on your various article sites point to your affiliate page. Don't add another layer by having articles point to your Squidoo lens.

If you need further help, PM me and I'll try to help!

That's a good idea. It's much easier for me to write articles for 2 or 4 hours out of the day than it is for my to do it 8 hours. I think I'll start doing that instead, starting tomorrow. Write articles in the morning while my mind is fresh, and then do all of the other stuff that seems less like a chore in the afternoon.

I typically backlink to my product and my Squidoo lens. Ezine articles get pretty good views on their own without me backlinking to them. Though I've heard from many a guru that backlinking to them it a much better idea than backlinking to your product page. Next time I do backlinking I'll probably apply that.
