I want to review books from all sorts of genres and to put some affiliate links to direct them to Amazon. Do you think it will work? What would you advice me to do exactly to improve this model.

I'm not sure about book review, but sure you can be making good amount of money with promoting free ebooks and building list from them. I'm starting with kindle publishing and there are services that charge up to $350 for one email blast to promote your book, and they are very popular.

That's not a good question. First of all to start doing something you should analyze your niche. How much traffic would you able to have, how much regular visitors would you able to have, how much competition is there in this niche. That is not a question about our or your opinion. It is a question about analyzing. If you want to make money, you should not listen to us or somebody else. You should make your business, starting with finding out all the answers.

I did some research on a few keywords that contain the book title and the word review and there are people searching for this kind of reviews. The question though is if the people who search for reviews are in a buying mood or not?

Most of the time a person searching for a review is a buyer and of course you can make money reviewing a book. Make sure you have little or no competition but your niche still get a bunch of searches each month and you're well on your way to make some money

Honestly you can make money with any kind of site, it all depends on how you go about it. I think the best person to answer your question is you. Thinks to consider... how much time and money are you willing to pump in to it, how about SEO, paid advertising, social networking etc.

If you just put up a page and do not dedicate time (and some money) then your chances of riding off rich in to the sunset diminish greatly.

Just my opinion here, but if you are pushing Amazon affiliate links to books, you will have to generate a lot of sales to make decent money. If you add other monetization methods ie Adsense for instance and other services (paid book placement / review) you can add more income potential to your site.

I think you get the picture. I wish you luck with whatever you decide to do.

If I want to read a book review I go directly to Amazon. I would rather have a review from someone I know has read the book, not just a general overview from someone who just has a link to it.

Katie has an excellent point. I think if you did a twist on what you are planning ie, all niche related. For example all hydroponic gardening books, photography, genealogy etc. That way you can closely theme your site. But don't let us talk you out of it, if you feel it's something you want to do, go for it!

Same with me. Why should I look for a review at your site, if i can find them rated at Amazon? I think you need some other compelling content except of reviews.

In generic book market, nope. There are a few big guns out there, Goodreads for example.
Even if you're in some niche market, your users will be those who actually read those books, or have friends who do. So, standard BS "reviews" won't cut it. My suggestion; go with reviewing other things. But it's your choice, of course.
