Hi,

I just started blogging. is it acceptable/legal to use images from Google Image to be place in our blog post? -I'll quote the source of the images

If not, where can I get free images to be used in my blog?

Google is a search engine, it just searches the images, the images that you see are not google copyright content. They are part of the websites where google bot crawls and using images and posting it on internet without the consent of the owner of the site, may lead you in loss.
Just see the same image will also be showcased of your website if it is searched. and now with google image you can even see who else has the image.
There are lot of free sites or people who give away nice images as low as posting or following them on twitter

No its not works until you have a written permission from image owner or have licensed it properly.

"Quoting the source" doesn't make a breach of copyright any more acceptable or less actionable. There are some images on Google which can be used, even for commercial purposes, without royalty-payments, permission or accreditation, and you can search there for them. (I'm not a lawyer - did you guess? ).

    Two things ...

    1. Pixabay

    2. Do three WF-searches here, just of the Main Marketing Forum, for all the threads with the words "images", "photos" and "pictures" in their titles: you'll quickly and easily find ten or fifteen discussions of this exact subject, and perhaps another ten sites listed, that way.

No, you can’t post others images on your blog without their permission. But there are some site which allow you to take images from their site, free of cost and you can post those images on your sites, without any problem.

Don't use them, they are from source or site, blog etc.
you should use your own, or get paid images or get copyright.
What is the benefits if you again and again share same images that already search engine indexed. Click your self, use photoshop that will be best to your blog.

Don't use google images Here's a story that should warn you off. How using Google Images can cost you $8,000 | Articles | Home

I don't usually bother hunting for free photos - I buy credits from a site that sells affordable stock images and use and reuse them sparingly. I also create some of my own graphics using sites like PicMonkey.

        A couple of alternatives...

        • Purchase your photos royalty free from shutterstock or dreamtime. (gets pricey)
        • Learn how to use photoshop, work with layers, and take google images and make them your own. (this is fun, however adobe creative cloud will run you $50/month)
        • Get a camera and take some of your own photos and watermark them with your brand. (and you can even sell them on your blog like a dreamtime or shutterstock)

        Good Luck,

        Derek

    Hi,

Here is good source for royalty free images-

    FreeDigitalPhotos.net

There are few more out there if you Google search. Just be sure to give credit for the photos in the caption underneath the photo (if instructed to do so on each website).

    Hope that helps.
