how to show your mailing list their "place in line" when signing up for a new product?

I've seen this on several "coming soon" pages. You enter your email address, and it shows how many people signed up ahead of you, as well as how many are behind you.

They also generate a unique "share link" that can bump you up in line, depending on how many people sign up using that link.

Here is an example of a site that uses it.

https://www.streem.com

I was somewhere around 15,000th in line for launch when I first signed up, but sharing the link on facebook bumped me up to ~1900 in line since a few friends entered their email addresses.

I think this is a genius way to grow your mailing list, just because it gives people an incentive to share your site. Even if getting "bumped up" in line really doesn't really matter.

Does anyone know what they use to accomplish this?

From a programming perspective, it is pretty easy. You just show how many have signed up but maybe don't have access yet as the ones in line ahead. Then you could how many people click on that link per user. Pretty simple for a programmer to do. Have you tried the Steem service yourself?

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

I was hoping there was a service out there that allowed you to do this without any programming knowledge.

Here is a screenshot of the screen you get after signing up. Notice how it shows yuour place in line, and gives you share buttons below that bump you up in line and give additional incentives for sharing.

    This is very powerful.

    Thanks for the share.

I think Frank Kern had a software like this.

Yes. It was called Good Karma and it's kinda old, outdated software that was quite controversial in it's time because it used recycled code from another software app.

There's better software out there that can perform a similar task *except* the "show place in line". I haven't seen that yet.

Here's a one that gives rewards with shares...

It really seems that the number does not have to be that accurate as no one really knows how many are ahead of you.

You could even have a static number and change it every day. Or you could just have a visitor counter on the page and start the number at any place you want to show that there is a lot of interest in the prelaunch.

All you would have to do is go to a javascript site and get the counter code for free and add it where you want the number to show on the page.

There would be no cost and it would be very easy to do. It would not bump anyone up in line as this would be the thank you page from your autoresponder and the subscriber would only see the page one time.

    I hope this is helpful,
