Some one copying my site.

I have just observed some one is copying my posts as it is (same to same) in his site. My questions are:

(i) What I should do? Should I ignore it?

(ii) Will my posts ranking be affected in any way?

(iii) Is there any way to make difficult or stop him from copying / scrapping my site?

you can contact him and asking why would he write your article word by word without linking to your site?

If your article/post is indexed and ranked by google already, so the other who post your article will be considered as duplicated contents, don't have to worry about your ranking.

you can ask him he should and must link to your website post.

Check if he already linked to your site, if he did than is good for you as you will have 1 backlink count ......

What if I find out who is the hosting service provider and write to them about this matter. Will it work out? Will they help in stopping that?

Absolutely! Hosting companies are liable if someone is using their service to host copyrighted material without permission. Contact the hosting company and advise them that you own the copyrights to these articles.

Believe me, most hosting companies will act fast to take your articles down.

    Contact them first.

Who is copying your site? Got links to yours and theirs?

If he is copying your website you can contact him and ask him to stop, which probably won't work, or you can ask Google to de-list his articles from search engine results.

  • Hi CBNet, contact the user who is copying and pasting your articles, and tell him to stop.
If he didn't stop, you must contact the hosting company he's using and send them a message.

We had a site copy us. It was a pain, but we finally got their content removed by filing a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) Takedown notice with the host. I'd try contacting the site owners first, but if your request is legit and they aren't complying with it, the DMCA might be your best option.

    A couple things to note:
    1. If the content is not actually your intellectual property you can get sued. So don't file one if you don't have a legitimate complaint (that should go without saying anyway)
    2. After getting the offenders taken down through our first DMCA takedown, they simply switched hosts. We filed another DMCA takedown notice. They switched again. We filed another takedown and they finally complied. After talking with our intellectual property lawyer, she said that this was not uncommon, so be prepared to chase them a little. (Save your original letter and modify it as needed.)
    3. The DMCA is only the law in the US, so it only applies to US web hosts. That said, even if outside the US, if the host is reputable they probably have policies (or even laws) very similar to the DMCA. One of the places we filed a takedown was from a host located in Singapore and they were very willing to comply. Most people who copy use cheap web hosts and companies don't want a potential legal issue or even any hassle over a $5/month hosting contract.
    4. The DMCA also applies to search engines, so you can file a takedown notice with Google, Bing, etc. as well.

Here's a decent guide to filing a DMCA takedown request:
How To File A DMCA Takedown Notice

Hope this helps and good luck!

First contact the website owner who is copying your contents and find the exact reason.

if he linked to your site with your articcle then it is good for your site if he doesn't respond to your quiries then you can contact google and provide the real problem, perhaps it will help.

First contact the site owner ask to remove content or add link to your site,
If they dont in 24 hrs then contact host to remove. Most hosting companies are good at shutting them down if you show the links on your site and the offenders.

I tried to use live chat services of namecheap.com. Waited in queue for long. But no body came online to chat. Thinking of talking to them on phone. Could not find their contact numbers. Can some give me their contact numbers.

Chat and phone won't work. You need to send them an official DMCA takedown notice. In writing. I Googled "Namecheap DMCA" and found this page which should provide all the contact info you need:

      https://www.namecheap.com/support/kn...use-complaints

Also, the page I linked to in my previous reply has a sample letter that you can easily modify but there are plenty of others out there. Google something like "Sample DMCA takedown" and you should find about a thousand of them.

It happened with me once before also. I talked to the hosting service provider who gave me the culprit site's administrator contact numbers. I talked to the administrator of the site & followed up with him. Ultimately he removed the coped articles.

Request if some body could provide me with namecheap.com contact numbers. Objectives are:

    (i) to talk to the hosting service provider & put pressure on the culprit site through them.

(ii) to get the site's administrator contact numbers

Just make sure when he copied your article before index it in google or after? If he copy it before index of your article then your article will consider as copy. If he copy it after index then his article will consider as copy.

You have no need to be worried about it. Just index your post asap when post new article.

You also can use Google authority. Just add your blog page in your google plus page. Verify your google plus account and make a link of your google plus page to blog. This is the best way to protect your article from data theft.

    Thanks

    (1) I was able to chat with namecheap.com. They have asked me to lodge a ticket with their legal deptt., which I will be doing. Please advise what I should ask for - whether ask to help in removing the copied posts. Or ask the site owner to link it back to my site. In this case what is the right way. To give a full version of my post with a link back to my site or an excerpt with a link back to my site.

    (2) @ avowzone: Googles take 2-3 days in indexing a post. What happens if in the mean time some body copies?

Have you actually read the posts above? You've been offered specific
detailed instructions on what to do yet you seem to be ignoring them.

File a DMCA with his host and they will be gone. It's worth the little bit of time it takes.

      That is a good idea.

Just know that there will always be someone out there that will like what you did with your site and try to copy it.

I had videos that I personally uploaded to YouTube and someone took those videos of me and then uploaded them to their YouTube accounts with their own links.

I actually contacted YouTube and that account is long gone.

Definitely contact their hosting service provider and file a DMCA with them. They will act pretty fast and your "copycat" will be out for good.

    Hope this helps!

Contacting the webmaster first then ask him to take down the website. Or contact their webhost.

I have just checked it again. The home page of the site is indexed 2013. But it has published full version of my six posts - same title with same images - today & they are not indexed yet.

Further on checking, I have found that it has many indexed posts in old dates, but they are now not appearing on this site - apparently all old posts have been removed & my posts have been published now.

Just file a DMCA takedown notice. It`s the easy way. Send him an e mail with a dmca notice, if he doesn`t take the articles down, send the same notice to his hosting provider.
