How to pilot test an idea the right way

This is my first time posting to this site so hello everyone...

I have an idea for a product or service that I want to sell online. Before I spent the time and the money to actually create the package I wanted to run some test campaigns to see if/how it would even sell. Is it possible to just create a test sales page with something like lead-pages and just push traffic to it to see if it would convert? I am sure there are multiple ways to do this but I am just curious if anyone has any guidance or experience with what works as far as testing....

Thanks

    Landonic,

You're starting at the wrong place. You're starting at the product or service idea. It would be better to start on the demand side.

What are your prospects asking for? What problems can you help them solve? What wants/needs do they have that they are willing to spend money on?

You may think you know what they want, but until you get out of the office and go onto the street, you're assuming too much. The business landscape is littered with great new products that nobody wants.

Focus on the market and the niche you plan to address and then you won't waste time and money on designing your business around false assumptions.

    The very best to you,

    Steve
