Filing complaint with DMCA

I would like to get in touch with some one who has ever filed complaint with DMCA.

I know the link to DMCA ( How can I file a DMCA Takedown Notice? - DMCA.com )

But I want to talk to some body who has actually gone through the process.

    I do these sometimes.

You don't file it "with the DMCA" ... that stands for Digital Millennium Copyright Act, it's just the name of the law concerned.

You need to send the DMCA "site takedown notice" by email to the company hosting the site that's breaching your copyright (and it's a good idea to send a copy of it to the site's owner/webmaster as well).

Here are the instructions (this is from Suzanne's website - have a good read): http://domainingdiva.com/what-you-ca...ipoff-artists/

      I've done it. Several times.

As Alexa said, you don't file it -- you submit it to the webhost and/or search engines.

I glanced at the link Alexa said and it seems to cover the main points. It even has a letter you can adapt and use for your own purposes.

You also want to read the responses on this very informative thread -- the one you started yesterday:

Sending an email or filling out a web form isn't rocket science.

It is a US law so you will want to check to see if it even applies to whoever you are sending it to. (That means they are in the US)

Even if it does apply, unless you are prepared to come to the US to sue it may not be as valuable to you as you would hope.

My own regular experience is that many decent hosting companies who are not in the US are also willing to comply voluntarily with a DMCA site takedown notice, even though it isn't legally binding on them.

(As happens with autoresponder companies, American laws sometimes have a habit of becoming internationally accepted policies.)

I'm not, but have still found them very useful. For years, now, I've found that it's comparatively rare for them not to work, on the occasions when I've really needed to do this.

Filing a complaint with the site works sometimes so try that first and give them a few days. Here's a page from a site that was downloading something of ours:

        http://www.allbookez.com/pdf/c492l7/

I didn't actually file the complaint - I just indicated that I would if they didn't voluntarily remove my stolen material.

If that doesn't work, bring out the bigger guns.

That is my experience also and I've sent out quite a few of these things.

I would definitely make sure you attempt to contact the owner of the website first before dealing with sending them an official notice.

I used to have a licensing company years ago where we would be sending out hundreds of these daily. Super easy.
