I started a thread yesterday here: No idea why, but it was closed. To whoever did that, guess what ... it would have turned into a value added thread. In short: 1) I am outsourcing a job on elance to "pretty up" my lightbox opt-in form and was looking for suggestions from other warriors. 2) I mentioned that I would be back to the thread to UPDATE everyone with the results of my efforts and learnigns 3) Everyone would have had the benefit of my learning. I got a snarky reply about how "this is not a customer service forum" from someone. Uh .... hello ... anyone home? What the heck is wrong with a thread that asks a question that MOST of us will want to know the answer to, and offers to circle back and share the learning? Geez ... So in case anyone wants to chime in here, my objective is to model some successful opt-in forms (graphical opt in forms) by using aweber's lightbox hover feature. My current form is a bit ugly and I will be hiring someone to pretty it up. I would like to learn from others (what tips do you have), and I'd like to SHARE what I learn when this project is complete. Anyone up for collaborating on some ideas to boost our opt-in rates? |

Apparently it was a moderator that locked your post yesterday. I mention it in the thread below. Read this and it may answer some of your questions: What's up with the "The end of black hat in the Warrior Forum" |

Why would a moderator have locked it? It's unrelated to the black had thread you mentioned, it's a useful thread for warriors, nothing weird in the thread. I don't get it.

Chris, It might be because of the "I'll report back with my findings" model. There was a big to do about this a few months back where people were reporting their results and at the same time using the thread as a promotional lead-in to a WSO. Since then, anything along the lines of "Watch Me As I . . . " gets zapped (as do threads asking "why was my thread zapped?"). Martin |

Chris - Most likely was locked due to the poster who answered the previous thread. Been some "troll control" going on here in the past day or two. Whatever reason - closed is closed and whining about it doesn't help. You might get better techie type answers in the programming section. kay |

Ok this is all getting a little tedious. I reposted in my thread about subscribing my wordpress blog commenters and it's just been deleted. Can anyone explain who comes around behind us all deleting threads that have no reason at all to be delted. This means I'll make another thread now for it in the future when it could have been solved there and then. Who is the deleter? |

I saw that thread and was very surprised to see it was locked. I thought the one reply it received of, "this isn't a technical support forum" was uncalled for. We constantly get threads like that around here and everyone learns something from the solutions given. Most likely it was closed because of the, "I'll report back on my findings" comment. Sadly a *lot* of people have been opening posts like that only to report back how amazing it is and turn it into a WSO. Lately the moderators have been very lock happy to try to stamp this out. I'd hope that a repost without that would be fine and receive plenty of help with your problem. Obviously no guarantees though, I'm not a mod and can't say for sure why it was locked. |

I am baffled about another thread evaporating a few hours ago that didn't have any of the problems mentioned so far about these threads, at least last time I saw it. I do have a suspicion that it was because of a combination of a post I made and someone's bad mood. The post did have an aspect that was fully admitted that someone could be touchy about but had a lot of useful info on the topic. I think it was a mistake to delete it but it's nothing compared to some of the mistakes I've made which I won't even admit. Not that anyone even knows enough about them to ask me about them. But my conclusion is simple. It is a lot easier to just go around an obstacle than to try to rebuild the world from scratch so it doesn't have that obstacle. So starting this thread should take care of it for you without a whole lot of bother. best wishes |
