I see a lot of marketers recommending Bluehost as the choice for setting up your first WordPress website.

Are they recommending it because it's the best solution around for a newbie or simply because Bluehost is paying them $65 per referral of a new client the sign-up?

No, Thats not a true at all. Bluehost is one of leading web hosting provider specially for wordpress. However I heard it from my friends as they have hosted their blogs on bluehost and never had a problem. I am currently with Godaddy managed wordpress and Happy with it so far.

I have heard some very good reviews about Blue host!

I don't currently use them. I use a service in UK closer to home who are also very good. I paid for a reseller host account so I can have what ever I want.

If you are looking for a web host I am doing a $2 per month unlimited package at the moment. hit me up if your interested.

I have one site on Blue host, it must be the commission no different than Hostgator. Most of my sites are on hostgator. Both are owned by EIG .. I was looking into moving all my sites today to another hosting company that is not tied into EIG

I would suggest that you do a little further research "beyond" the affiliate world - I doubt you'll find any website recommending any of the EIG brands without an affiliate tie.

I'd suggest taking some time over here to ask: Web Hosting Talk - The largest, most influential web hosting community on the Internet

That's what I thought. Yes, I know that Bluehost is owned by EIG, just like HostGator and their service and support has declined since the acquisition by EIG. Personally, I prefer SiteGround.

A few companies I'd recommend as direct competitors to us would be:

        MDD Hosting
        StableHost
        Namecheap

        //

That said, what type of requirements do you have? How much storage space, types of sites etc are you looking for?

Do you have a location preference?

Aside from the standard "hosting" aspect, are there any additional features you're looking for?

Would you be looking to host multiple websites, a single one etc - perhaps some outlook on where you would see things down the road in terms of your hosting requirements?

I will say the post should be why to avoid Bluehost? or alternative to bluehost?

If you check the past 6 months record of bluehost they are having major downtime every month. You can get more details at : Alternatives to Hostgator, BlueHost, Justhost and EIG - Best Web Hosting Reviews
