What To Watch Out For With Affiliate Programs

Here are my 2 cents on this topic:

What to watch out for, before consider joining any of the aff. programs out there;

1. Do they pay for one-time sale, or is it recurring one. No need to explain, which one is better, right? With one-time sale, you get only one-time comission, so I wouldn't join such program.
2. How long are they in business? Online companies come and go, so you better check their operating history, before you start promoting their stuff. You really don't want to lose your hard earned bucks over this.
3. What other webmaster are saying about them? Join the top webmaster forums and post a question about that company to see what experiences others have with them. If they tell you that company shaves your profit, or screwes you in any other way, don't join their program.
I would like you to consider one more thing, a very important one; why do you think that commissions are so high? Because the real money is made in the aftersales. Program provider offers you very generous commission, because they know that they will make 100-times more after you've brought a new customer to them. So, you've worked your butt off to get visitor, convert him or her to customer and they get his or her contact info. You did all the hard work just to get a commission, and that's that.

Yes, there are more things you should be aware of, but this is a good start. I'm sure many of you know about these, but it might help some newbies here.
P.S. Pls share your opinions about it, ok? Thanks and have a nice day

I disagree with all three of your points.

    1. One time billing products convert better in my experience, resulting in more money for my traffic.

    2. Can't tell anything by this. If I jumped on Godaddys affiliate program the day it came out i'd still be feeling pretty good about myself today.

    3. So many fake reviews and BS "reputation management" these days you can only really be sure what a company or program is like if you test it yourself.

I don't wan't to rain on your thread but you did ask for opinions, and I AM having a nice day...

It is important to go through the terms and conditions of the companies that provide with affiliate programs. Before signing up for any particular affiliate program compare the terms and conditions and the commissions offered.

Choosing the right aff program is one of the key step to your online biz success.
I think choosing the one time fee aff program can be one of the easiest way to make money online, just ensure they pay on time, they have good product, and more over you should know who the market is.

As long as you can cover those steps, I think aff program is one of the best business model still right now

Re 1. True! Many people balk at signing up for recurring commissions. Not that I would totally avoid promoting them, but I'd definitely include one-time commission products in the mix.

On the other hand, affiliate programs that offer lifetime cookies/commissions are great. They're my preferred programs to promote for. And if they do have recurring income products too, that's the way to get in on those.

And re 3. I agree. In fact, I find it almost essential to check out any product yourself before you promote it. Quality is essential.
