    Weird question.

There is no SINGLE thing. But to play along, a single thing could be.....they take action or testing. Pick one. Vague answer though. But......

Not a good question imo. There is no one single thing that makes them rich.

Just pay attention to what they DO, not necessarily what they say. When they are saying something with their right hand, watch what they are doing with their left.

      Dv8,

My friend, the question was meant to be as it is...The aloof manner in which it's posed is to cause us(you) to narrow down essentially what you feel is the best way or perception of how the "guru's" earn money. It wasn't meant to be ummmmm, taken so serious per say..lol.

      Thanks my friend..

As DV8 said, there is no ONE SINGLE thing that brings them tons of money each day. However, since you want one common denominator behind the "gurus" I would have to say
to network with others, preferably "heavy hitters". Joint Ventures with "heavy hitters" where you will be giving them a bigger commission than your regular affiliates (if you have an affiliate program) is the way to go. Even ONE JV partner could put tons of cash into your pockets. Communication is KEY here. You need to build relationships with the right people and then leverage their time and efforts to help you succeed.

This is VERY GOOD advice, pay attention to it. Pay MUCH closer attention to what they are actually DOING and NOT what they are saying. Sadly, many IMers tend to lead you in circles, selling you an onslaught of products which sell you more products, etc. Think back end sales. Watch how they do it and then apply what you learn to your business.

      Good Luck!

    That's easy.

Become an expert in your chosen niche, learn through your own trial and error what does and doesn't work, spend years of your time and thousands of dollars of your own testing... then profit from your work.

Then, and only then, package up everything you know and sell it as a system to others.

If you think there's a shortcut go and read part 2 of Sylvie Fortin's Internet Marketing Sins report.

Answer Part 1: Sending their offers to their bloody great big email lists.

Answer Part 2: Copy them by building your own bloody great big list and emailing your offers to it.

You left the most important part out of the equation there:

Answer Part 3: Align yourself with Giveaway site owners and offer up a product. Funnel new leads through a Squeeze Page to collect said product. Now you are well on your way to building that "bloody great big list" referred to in Answer Part 2.

The simple answer? Offer bloody tuna to a large number of hungry sharks in a way that starts a feeding frenzy.

Here's how one charter captain does it...

    1. Anchor the boat up-current from a channel frequented by large sharks.

    2. Butterfly an oily, smelly fish like a little tunny (bonito) and hang it off the rear of the boat to start a scent trail in the current.

    3. Start chumming with additional bits of food, using just enough to attract attention and start the feeding urge.

    4. As the sharks are spotted, offer larger chunks of bait, but not enough to satisfy the feeding urge.

    5. Throw out a larger chunk of bait - with a hook in it.

    Hmmmm...

Setting up where quarry is known to travel... Starting a feeding frenzy by offering teaser baits... Finishing with an irresistible offer with a hook in it...

    Remind you of anyone?

I've worked with many 6 and 7 figure gurus and have done extremely well as a result. In simple language here is exactly what they do.

        1) They find a rabidly hungry market to get in front of - a market that is actively buying. Very important. These markets are often sub-niches of the evergreen markets: make money, lose weight, find love, etc. Contrary to most advice you see, the most money gets made in high competition markets. Why? Because the buyers are rabid - they can't get enough.

        2) They stand up and get themselves noticed. They understand that human nature is to follow a leader, so they *choose* to be leaders of *impact* through writing, speaking, multimedia, etc. In other words they make a choice to lead BIG, not small, thus creating a "cult like" following as another poster mentioned. (hint: this is the seed for it all)

        3) They constantly monitor what their market fundamentally WANTS and then design ALL of their communication, products and services to speak *directly* to that. Note: just like a good politician, you rarely see a guru go "off message".

        4) Above all else, *everything* they do is centered around sales and marketing. Specifically they create and test sales and marketing funnels that lead their customers in, usually starting with a small purchase that strategically leads to larger and larger purchases.

        5) Finally they leverage their association with others who are also standing up and getting noticed (joint ventures) and thus get themselves even more noticed.

There are many other components that come into play when you look deep into the typical guru operation. But these are the fundamental and critical elements in my experience.

In my experience it has nothing to do with being first to market, although in a perfect world that would be ideal. But if you think about it, the number of truly "new" markets are few and far between.

If I were to summarize I would say that guru-type success is about five things:

            1) Visibility - absolutely vital and the key to guru status
            2) Quality - important but not as critical as visibility believe it or not
            3) Fundamentals - proven sales and marketing, functional products and services
            4) Consistency - important to stay visible and keep selling
            5) Market share - this is really the reward for all of the above

      Julian,

It's your prerogative not to like the gurus, but don't throw the baby out with the bath water. These guys make millions, they do a helluva lot of things that can be learned from.

As quite a few are Warriors, why not take your own advice. Here's a quote from a post you made just a few minutes ago:

The best thing to make money is to have a responsive mailing list. With a responsive mailing list you can create products that they want and will buy.

It is also so important that you are trusted and considered an expert in what you are selling.

Providing something of high perceived and hopefully real value that a hungry market genuinely wants and hopefully needs as well.

A "guru" wouldn't even create that product or service unless he knew he had easy economical access to the hungry market he intends to sell to.

Ultimately servicing a market is a bit like a magician's trick.

You find a market and you work out some way you can give them back many times more value than they have to pay you for your product or service.

You make money by helping others make or save a pile of money.

The biggest key to success though is to appeal to the emotional side of your prospects so they'll actually buy.

      Kindest regards,

Nyah!! your question is very simple. All of the methods, all of the systems, all of the activities in the internet is focused on one thing and one thing alone..

All of the sales copy, all of your contents, all of the search engine optimizations, even your website is built for one focus...AND THAT IS TO ATTRACT ME!

You heard it right..TO ATTRACT TRAFFIC. That is the secret. There's only one, others are just icing on cake.

even your post here is focused on one intention, to attract me. Otherwise who will answer your post.

In the grander view of things. Who will buy the best selling ebooks, who will make this guru's rich. No one else except the people that generates traffic to their site.

Hope I enlighten you on this.

Wow do I disagree with you on this one. Attracting traffic is not the secret by any means.

In fact attracting traffic is really a by-product of effective sales and marketing.

            To prove it consider this.....

In order to get traffic from joint ventures or affiliate marketing, a "guru" must be visible, impactful and have solid products or services that sell effectively. Otherwise they won't secure or maintain any joint ventures or affiliates. Thus traffic is a by-product.

In order to get solid traffic from adwords, a "guru" must not only know how to convert well with adwords (few do) but must also have consistent funds to maintain such a campaign - funds from effective sales of their products and services. Thus traffic is a by-product.

These are just two examples but you get the idea.

I might further add that traffic in and of itself means n-o-t-h-i-n-g. Traffic only matters if you can convert it. I can't count the number of times I've seen people post saying "I'm getting thousands of visitors a month to my site but no sales."

Once again, this requires a sales and marketing funnel that leads someone in and extracts money from them in ever-increasing amounts.

Folks this is what gurus do. To re-phrase what someone else on this thread previously stated...

Stop doing what they say and start doing what they do.

Hint: there's no secret to what they're doing......it's right in front of your eyes.

That's what I'm talking about. Everything the gurus do is in plain view. If you have bought products recently, take a look at why you bought them. What buttons were pushed to make you pull out the wallet?

What was the sales process? What did they do after your purchase? Did you buy any of the upsells? If so, WHY?

It starts to become clear when you actually pay attention.

Systems that work for the person not the person working in the system.

These people have invested time and money and each one has a different system. "Copying" isn't the thing to do since you won't have access to everything they do on the backend (behind the scenes).

Develop your own system and draw it on paper. Visualizing it is a great start to testing, tweaking, and improving!

As others have said, I don't believe you can boil it down to
a single element of the process BUT...

If I had to narrow it down to one single thing that is a surefire
predictor for success it would be this...

Forget the quality products... forget the JV's... forget the
excellent marketing systems and funnels... they're all the natural
and predictable result of one thing...

Ultra-successful people have one thing in common... a burning desire
to succeed that is so profound and deep-rooted it almost defines who
        they are.

It is that burning desire to succeed which leads them to learn and
implement the skills required to fulfill their dreams.

I think it's the fact they don't sit around and bitch, they don't moan, they just go out there and make things happen and take risks that most people won't. They try things, then find out what works and what doesn't then fix it for the future. Basically, they just get it going and are willing to fail fast.

Top Dollar Making Guru want-to-be's begin by hanging out with other top dollar making gurus (live events) and first and foremost be friendly, be a friend and make a friend...

If you're hard-working and sincere, you'll grab the attention and probably begin a friendship with a guru that will want to help you because that's the way the started.

Then, you'll enter their secret world of behind the scenes deal-making and jv brokering. BTW if you're more risk adverse and have a slower work pace than another potential guru, there's a good chance they'll want to avoid you like the plague (unless you come up to speed real fast).

Matt... Have I got that about right...

        Cheers,

        Rob
