Namecheap domain not working on hostgaor

I've done what is required of me. Copied and pasted the nameservers to the right place then added the domain in my add-on domain, then installed wordpress on it. Still not opening, as if the domain doesn't exist. Please help me

We can't help you dude, you need to talk to Namecheap support to find out what is wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if your domain hasn't propagated yet.

As Alex mentioned above --> If you have waited for propagation and the site still does not resolve then contact support.

How long ago did you do this? It can take a while for nameservers to update depending on the day. It can take anywhere between several minutes to several hours.

Use these tools (or any number of others) to check propagation.

It can take up to 48 hours to "propagate" (and work).

It doesn't normally take anything like 48 hours, but it can, occasionally. Or even a fraction longer.

If it still isn't apparently working, after that, I would try Hostgator online chat support first (and then Namecheap's if also necessary).

    Good luck!

Yeah...and if you are a Mediacom customer you could be waiting even longer to see your own sites due to their very slow DNS refresh rates!

"I spoke with the Tier Two supervisor who explained this could take up to 4-5 days to fully propagate through all of our servers."
Yeah, unfortunately Mediacom is the company offering the speed where I live. I have needed to switch to Google Public DNS or OpenDNS at times just to see my sites in a reasonable time frame after switching IPs.

      Cheers

I agree with most of what was said, but I'd also recommend that you check your WHOIS record to make sure that the nameservers have been properly registered. On most linux boxes you can do that by running the command:

      Code:
      $ whois yourdomain.com
There are also about a million online websites you can use to check a WHOIS record. Namecheap has one of its own at https://www.namecheap.com/domains/whois.aspx

When you run the WHOIS check you should get something like this:

      Domain Name: WARRIORFORUM.COM
      ...
      Name Server: NS-1484.AWSDNS-57.ORG
      Name Server: NS-1863.AWSDNS-40.CO.UK
      Name Server: NS-194.AWSDNS-24.COM
      Name Server: NS-605.AWSDNS-11.NET

As Alexa said, DNS can take a bit of time to propagate, but the WHOIS record should update almost immediately (it's the downstream DNS servers that can cause the propagation delay, but this is becoming much less common anyway). If the nameservers listed in your WHOIS search aren't the Hostgator domain names, you need to fix the issue on Namecheap's end. If the nameserver's are correct, the problem lies with Hostgator.
