Help paypal account has been limited

Hi I really hope someone here can help me. My Paypal account has just been limited a few minutes ago. I logged into my account and verified its not a spoof. Here are the details I hope someone can help me:-

If I can't get my account back then my online business is destroyed

========================

Why is my account access limited?

Your account access has been limited for the following reason(s):

30 May 2014: When you signed up for your PayPal account, you agreed to our User Agreement and Acceptable Use Policy. We've had to permanently limit your account because some of your recent transactions violated this policy.

You'll be able to withdraw any money in your account 180 days after your last transaction. This is to ensure that we can cover any chargebacks that may be filed on previous transactions during this period. We'll email you when you can withdraw your money.

If you've any references to PayPal on websites you may own, please remove them.

=========================

I sell open source / public domain digital products on ebay. Nothing violates copyright and my ebay account is in excellent standing with 100% positive feedback. If anyone needs to see all the products I sell in order to help me please PM me and I'll send you a link to them.

You might have mistaken something that is copyrighted for open source or used a copyrighted image.

The only thing you can do is contact PayPal, by phone is best and see if you can resolve it. Otherwise you are probably correct about selling anything on eBay.

...Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just set there.

Everything I sell is 100% definitely open source plus my own content which I obviously hold the copyright to. I guess its possible that an image used in the auction may of been copyright but to permanently ban an account over that seems like lunacy.

Thanks for your reply. I'll try to call them and get some sense. Wish me luck I'm going to need it.

Give them a call see what they can do, I've had this happen to me and they did actually let me take my money out of my paypal account there and then but I did have to close my account.

Maybe consider using an additional payment processor as well as Paypal? It's very risky just to use Paypal because they can ban/limit your account at any point.

Clickbank, 2checkout and stripe are all very good alternatives, personally use stripe and I love it. It even allows customers to pay using there Paypal account and stripe just add it onto your weekly 'paycheck'.

I was interested to read your mention of Stripe, but I thought it was linked up with PayPal?

Can you tell us a bit more about it, because I'm sure a lot of Warriors would sleep better at night with an alternative payment processor in their portfolio.

      Thanks!

Unfortunately I'm stuck with Paypal because all my sales are through ebay. I don't have a big balance in my account so I don't care about getting the money back I just want my account reinstated.

Thanks for your reply cindypark I will contact them. Just wanted to check first that no one knew of any successful strategies to get an account back as I may only have 1 shot and getting them to change their mind and don't want to blow it.

If it`s a permanent ban with no appeal, then you won`t be able to appeal it. You have to fix things before you get to that stage, sorry to tell you this.

Maybe they listen to you Jeff because of your high volume. Perhaps you are too important to ignore.

Me on the other hand well I probably only put £300 through paypal every month which is nothing to them.

You definitely must call them to find out exactly what it was that triggered the ban. I'm thinking you either sold a copyrighted product on eBay, or a product that PayPal thinks you don't have the copyright to.

Getting your account reinstated may be as easy as proving to them that you are the one and only copyright holder of the product. Then again, there may be other issues that have nothing to do with eBay.

I always like to think positive and I sure hope you get your account back, but I want to be realistic and tell you that you need to prepare yourself for the fact that they may not want to do business with you anymore.

I know this may seem devastating to you right now, but it is not the end of your online business, unless you want it to be. Yes, your eBay business may be finished, but there are many other ways to make money online. And while not having access to PayPal is certainly an obstacle, it's not the end of the world.

You may want to consider shifting over to Internet Marketing full time, and starting to build a list. You can use other payment processors if you wish to sell your own products, or you can simply become a super affiliate and just promote products that others have created! You don't need PayPal at all to promote Clickbank products. You can get your money deposited directly into your bank account as frequently as once a week!

Yes, a door has closed in your face. Just remember one thing though. When a door closes on you TWO other doors usually OPEN UP!

Don't give up my friend. I have a feeling that this may work out in your favor and you will learn other ways to make even more money online. I sincerely hope that PayPal decides in your favor, but if they don't, you need to see this not as an ending but a new beginning!

Thank you for bringing up this option as many people are not even aware they can open a Clickbank seller's account (for a one time fee) to sell products. This option is a good avenue for anyone banned from Paypal as it allows them to earn money (with a huge world wide marketplace and built in affiliates) in a way that even Ebay might not offer.

I highly recommend writing a sincere and honest letter about your situation to the Paypal president David Marcus. Explain that you did not intentionally violate any Ebay or Paypal policies. Be humble and apologize for your mistake. Say that you are willing to sign a document stating you will follow their policies if reinstated.

Another thing to do is call Paypal and request to speak with a manager that handles account reinstatement requests. Managers are the only ones with the authority to change your account status. Customer service reps don't know squat and just relay the basic information.

Also, you really need to double check all the info products you are sending out. Check all the photos, graphics and content. Someone has made a complaint to Ebay about copyright infringement and they are taking it very seriously. You need to get to the bottom of this issue if you really want any chance of reinstatement. Paypal is risk adverse, meaning they are not going to do business with anyone that breaks their TOS or is breaking copyright rules.

Maybe you feel that you are in the clear, but obviously, you're not or this whole thing wouldn't have happened. It's going to be useless to get your account back only to lose it again because you keep selling the same thing that got you in trouble. This is an opportunity to make changes to what you are doing. Instead of using ready made content, look into creating your own unique info products. You can have cheap graphics done on Fiverr. Just a thought.

Give a Paypal representative a call.

Usually all problems can be cleared up in a short moment.

I think that you should expand outside of the Ebay/Paypal bubble and try to
get at least another payment processor to work with.

Thanks nicheblogger75 that seems to be very wise advise. Thats exactly the mentality I was trying to have. It's just a shame if I don't get the account back because I know I could of built the ebay thing really big it was so easy to do.

Just spoke to someone in the limitations department. They said my account was limited and they would like to "part ways" at this point.

I explained my ebay account was in excellent standing and asked why this happened. They said the only information they have is that it was a copyright issue and I was sending out disks to people.

I asked if a supervisor would call me back and they said yes but I'm holding my breath that they will.

I'm not going to give up though I'll call them everyday I'll write to them I'll write to the CEO. Hell I'll even setup a new stealth ebay and PayPal account and start all over again from the beginning if I have to!

Don't give up, but in the mean time you should get a wife, family member to open up an account for you, and check your inventory to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Sucks to hear about your account. It sucks to have that happen.

As an alternative you can use Propay to accept payments on eBay too:

As mentioned numerous times, call them. I've talked to them many times and they've always been helpful. If you can prove that you've sold only public domain stuff there should be no problem, but be prepared to prove it.

Yes! PayPal is very strict about copyright infringement. Its 100% sure that some of your buyer has reported it to PayPal and eBay as well. If you are still in eBay then you can opt for skrill and link it to your eBay account.

Honestly once it gets to be 'uncivil' like the communications you have.. your pretty well out of luck. Its going to take weeks to get a final answer on it but even then... most likely getting a 60-day cool off period even if they let you back on. Next time you setup an account you have to be proactive about it.. here is the trick..

Turn your ebay auctions into 'images' so that there isn't actual 'text' on the page. Sell on the new account until they limit the account with request for more information.. then go back to eBay and remotely update the images via FTP to reflect product that is legit and is not a violation.. let them review your account.. it becomes unrestricted.. then replace the imgs back and keep doing business and they wont review your account again. I've done a lot of consulting for guys that had great ebay hussles that paypal bucked on and found creative ways to get them back in teh game long term.
