It really depends on your niche. Some themes would already have stock photos included, so it might help. An all-in-one niche site theme for the niche blogger, vendor and expert is the Experts Theme. Unlike the one suggested above, it's not free though and I never used it myself.

I wonder which typical website is not a "niche website"?

Anyway, I like the commercial themes from StudioPress and RocketThemes.

It would have helped to know the niche and if you wanted free or paid.

Paid: Studiopress and Woo Themes are good.

Free: Have a look at Evolve, Magazine Basic, Catchbox, Weaver and Atuhalpa
Lots of custom options for some of those.

There is no "best" theme for building a niche site.

Niche sites cover millions and millions of different topics, and there is no one theme that suits every single niche.

Anyway, you should concentrate more on your content than your theme.

There are thousands of free themes out there which would fit any niche website. If you would like to buy a theme, then genesis and thesis can be customized to any extent to fit your needs.

If a visitor stays on your website for more than 60 seconds, it is termed as a good looking website!

The website which is eye catching, engaging and delivers a quality content that provides solution to visitors problems, then it is a good website.

    Take Care!!

I think Prosense Grey and DarkZen by DailyBlogTips are the two best WordPress themes for niche websites. Except these two iFeature theme, iStudio theme are also good for niche websites.

There are many themes that you can use. Everything depends on your niche and of course if you have money to buy some of theme. Personally I think that for small niche sites you should use a free theme. A good, free and fast theme is Atahualpa.
