Sony develops new "ebook" device.

Hi Guys,

Sony have released an new "e-book" device capable of storing up to 160+ books (Ebook: The future of reading? - Blackpool Today).

Users can connect to the Internet and download books to the device.

At the moment I think only waterstones.com (Welcome to Waterstones.com) are selling the downloadable ebooks.

Here's a pic -> http://www.searchenginepeople.com/wp...ok-readers.jpg

I wonder will the day come soon when we can all list our ebooks there? I hope so!

Blackpool has some great nightlife hosting the largest super nightclub in the UK.

To be honest you can't beat reading a good book!!!!

              BUT...

This device is a must for ebooks.. I hate reading ebooks off my monitor screen and always end up printing them out so I can read away from my computer... Far too easy to get side tracked... (Like now.. I'm side tracked.. Should be writing some articles...!! tut tut..)

Anyway - I would really find this useful to store my Internet Marketing ebooks and save all that wasted A4 paper.....

I tried one out the other day. When I was reading from it, all of the characters in all of the books, that I read excerpts from, spoke with a British Accent.

Looks awesome to me. My brother has been banging on about getting a pda for reading ebooks with, but this seems a lot better ( bigger screen for one ).

I'd love to have one of these because of the tons of ebooks I have. Like Ross, I don't like reading ebooks off my monitor (but unlike Ross, I'm too cheap to print them out, so I just suck it up! LOL!)

But, everybody, don't forget: if you're selling e-books, find a way to get a commission off of selling these readers and let your customers know about them! ;-)

A bit too small, a few too many buttons.

I find it easier to read in bed with an ultralight. And keep my books on a usb key for reading from any other computer I happen to be at.

I don't see why 160 books, text, is that big of a deal. My current usb key is 16 gig, surely that could hold 160 books??

I thought the Sony Reader had been out a little time, we have been watching all the different readers especially as the Kindle isn't available at the moment for anyone outside the US.

I wasn't aware of it happening but this new Sony Reader was apparently launched in the UK this week.

A news item on national radio said that first day UK retail sales totalled...

          Looks like a winner!

I can't believe that but that's what they said and they're the media so it must be true!

It looks like a nice item. I wouldn't mind using one. The local bookstore has one on display. If they really wanted it to take off though, they should give it away and make a deal with the booksellers for a percentage of the cut.

The Sony Reader has been available here in the states for quite a while...many months.

It's quite nice in person. Very readable screen,...there could be a little more backlight, but it's not bad at all!
