Help me list build with $7 script hot reports

I've recently reread Allen's fantastic "Hot Reports" stuff in the War Room and it sounded like great fun to start doing and also suit my style of short simple projects very well.

Creating top quality reports or software to sell through the system isn't going to be a problem. Not easy, but definitely not a problem.

To start with I'm not going to have an OTO as I want to keep this as simple as possible but I do want to build a mailing list from each report (no point giving away 100% commission if I'm not!).

Is it unreasonable to require people to opt in to receive the product they've just paid for? I can't do the PayPal/Aweber automation because it'll be other peoples' PayPal accounts. I'm not sure how I would feel if someone required me to sign up to their list to receive something I'd just paid for.

If that is unreasonable. How would you go about maximising sign ups? Do you think offering "Priority notification and life time updates" is sufficient or do I need some kind of top quality freebie to encourage the sign up?

As an aside I'd also be interested to know how you'd promote these report in the WSO forum? Doing 50% off a $7 report seems pretty pointless. Would I be better of doing a 2-4-1 type offer or finding something else to add value to the offer?

    How about something like:

    Here's your download link:
    www.asdf.com

Here's a special one time offer, just confirm your info for my list and get the bigger and badder version of the thing for free.

    Andy,

Consider splitting your report into two parts
and sell volume 1 for $7 and then offer volume
two as an unadvertised bonus delivered by
    link in email.

The Rapid Action Profits script can be set so that customers are automatically subscribed to your Aweber list after they buy - they just need to confirm their email address. I get people to confirm by offering the audio for the report for free.

In terms of the WSO I did a 2-4-1 offer. I offered my $10 report with another of my products that sells for $27 for the price of $10.

This hot reports system is a fantastic system if you do it right.

I'm a member of the war room but I can't find that post. What's the subject line?

Thanks for the tips guys. I'm feeling a bit stupid right now. I'm planning the first on to be a written report supported by several videos. But until I saw the comments I hadn't made the association that I had the perfect optin stuff already on my todo list!

Thanks also for the several PMs. I'm currently in the "you have to wait 5 minutes to send another PM" phase of trying to reply to them all
