Writing good articles

I won't give you the usual suspects for buying articles, PLR or otherwise, because I have always found them to be absolute junk. Couldn't in good conscience send you to those hardly-English speaking hordes of educationally challenged 3.00 per 500 word joints. Sorry, not my style. I'm sure someone will be along directly to tell you about these places anyway.

Having said that, you can sometimes find good quality PLR packages here in the WSO threads.

If I were you I would find a quality writer, pay them what they're worth, and take a few steps up from the crowd that's currently going for cheaply written rubbish. Your readers will thank you in the long run, trust me on that.

For article marketing I've heard that "bum marketing method" is a worthwhile system. You can google that. Personally I can't speak for that but I've heard some people 'round these parts say it works. I believe it's a free course, but again, I'm not sure.

If you are looking to become an article writer yourself, Jenn Dize here at the forum has a solid course for that floating around in the WSO section. Wait... here it is

As far as writing good articles goes, I would say it's a combination of being a skilled writer and a good researcher.

With writing, apart from practice and reading, I would recommend "The Elements of Style" by Strunk and White. It's been an indispensable resource for me that I still refer to frequently. I was considering adjectives just the other day, and I found this: "Write with nouns and verbs, not with adjectives and adverbs. The adjective hasn't been built that can pull a weak or inaccurate noun out of a tight place. This is not to disparage adjectives and adverbs; they are indispensable parts of speech." The book is full of great advice like that.

As for research, I'm not sure what to suggest. Practice using search engines and skimming through web pages to get to the info you want is probably the best course of action. I don't doubt there is a good book on how to do research, but none that I know of.

NICE! I totally agree. You get what you pay for. If you pay $3, you're at risk for getting a junk article.

There are several people here on the WF that put out excellent PLR. Check some of the past threads on this subject and you'll find the PLR writers that people recommend.

Tim Gorman has a product out now about article marketing, although I haven't purchased it. He knows his stuff.

Bum marketing with Travis Sago is a good starting point with article marketing.

If you want to write articles that English-speaking folks will read right through to your resource box, then I'm afraid you'll need to get a better grasp of the English language.

I'm sorry to say that, and I don't mean to be harsh. But as the offline media continues to move online, you'll soon find yourself fighting against more and more professional writers.

That being said, if you want professional writers at rookie prices...the Warrior For Hire board has a few diamonds...

But if you plan on becoming an article marketer, then you should try to eliminate the rookie mistakes A.S.A.P.

Spelling and grammar are your staple diet. Whether you're in a hurry or not.

Your written English is good enough so we understand what you're communicating, but if you want to write professionally, that's a whole different level, and based on the evidence you're not quite there yet.

I've got to agree with Steve. Spelling and grammar are all-important. The one that really bugs me is misuse of "your" and "you're." Another is using apostrophe s for a plural as in "one watermelon, many watermelon's."

EzineArticles.com has some good info if you're just getting started.

You've received some great advice here on this thread. Plenty to get you started.

Another good way to learn is to read what other people have written. Go to the article directory sites, like EzineArticles.com. Read through some topics that you find interesting.

Sure, you'll find some really badly written articles. But you'll likely find some great ones, too.

I found a WSO several months ago (possibly a year ago) that taught the concept of taking one basic article and then turning it into 7 or 8 different articles. It was a fabulous find.

Although I've got a background in journalism and I've written for a lot of publications, article marketing online is different. That little WSO really opened my eyes and made me realize I was trying too hard. I was trying to pack too much into the articles I was writing for the web. Plus, that little WSO had some great ideas for stepping back, taking another look at your topic, and then turning it into several articles instead of the one you started out with.

Good articles need 2 things IMO, Obvious Interest (the article shows a bit of your passion for the subject) and thorough research, (the article seems written by someone who has an endless amount of knowledge on the subject).

What do you like in an article?
Think about that.

I find Andrew Hansen's articlespeedwriting.com quite useful and Tim G is the guy to go when it comes to article marketing. Don't overwhelm yourself, pick one resource that you feel more aligned to and learn from it. And of course, put what you learn into action.

I agree with Peter that most PLR are crappy. That's the reason I setup my own PLR site to bring peace of mind to PLR users by providing high quality articles

Someone mentioned Jenn Dize and her course, and I can tell you that you can't go wrong with her course and her coaching. There really is no shortcut. You'll either have to spend lots of time on quality research, pay someone to do it for you, or publish junk. Sounds like you've decided to avoid door #3, so I applaud you for that.
