Any Good Resources to Learn About Sales Funnels?

I've noticed several experienced marketers on this forum
mention sales funnels. So, I'm guessing it is a concept
that is necessary to learn in order to become successful
online.

I searched Google but didn't find any adequate information.
Also, there seems to be contradictory ideas on the subject
and I don't want to be fed bad information.

For instance, a few sites I visited proposed that the traditional sales
funnel is obsolete and says to use a reverse funnel. I guess each one
would work better than the other for a given situation(?). I don't know.

Any who, none of the sites went into too much detail and was
basically giving just enough info to pre-sell their offer.

Any advice, direction, or recommendations would be highly appreciated.

Check out some of the articles and information by Fred Gleeck at fredgleeck.com. He does a nice job of explaining it with diagrams, etc. OK, thanks, and good luck, Ed.

Robert Allen's Multiple Streams of Income has a great chapter on
this as well. Worth the read especially for information marketers.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't a sales funnel simply a sales process or sequence of events in the process of a sale.

Here's what wikipedia says about it.

Sales tunnel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For internet marketers ( especially affiliates ) a sales funnel could look like this...

    - Targeted visitors

    - Sent to opt-in page that offers a gift

    - Prospect opts in and then...

    - Sent to a page that urges them to go and confirm their subscription ( thank you page )

This way you make sure you get a subscriber to confirm for follow up later etc.

    - Big link on that thank you page that urges them to check out an interesting related article after...

    ... they confirm their subscription.

( tell them to open a new window to confirm their subscription )

    - After they confirm their subscription ( your thank you page is still looking at them )...
they click the link on the thank you page to check out a interesting sounding article

    - After the article, they are invited to check out a related product.

    - Prospects buys and you get a commission!

( Maybe they don't but it's good that you can follow up with them later )

    > Now, of course what happens if they don't opt-in in the first place??

That's a whole other can of worms, but you could have an exit pop-up for people that don't do what you want them to do at any stage of the process.

    Etc, etc., etc.

Bottom line is that you must design a clear path for your prospects and you must know how you're going to react at each stage of the process.

    That is a sales funnel.

    Hope This Helps!!

      Raydal:

I will look into Robert Allen's Multiple Streams... book.
I read some of his older work. I'm glad you mentioned
him because on his site he has a report on information
marketing that I found very interesting.

I am looking for something that goes much further in depth.
When I put together my course on information marketing, I went through all the high-priced infoproducts I had purchased from top marketers, and some of them were quite candid about the details of their marketing funnel. One marketing funnel had 16 steps!

A good investment, if you're interested, is Bill Glazer's A-Z Infomarketing Blueprint Seminar.

Here's a free resource that came up in a quick Google search:

Not sure why this post was deleted from the woman's blog, but it has some useful details.

Try Kevin Riley. He is a member here too and you can search for his name. He really opened my eyes with his Instant Money Factory product. While this is sold out I believe (from a couple of years ago) he can certainly teach you what you need to know in easy to comprehend steps.

          Hope this helps.

            Thanks everyone for replying.

Usually when I'm interested in a subject I search Amazon
for books on the topic. I don't know why I didn't do it this
time. For whatever reason, I got sucked into the cycle of
searching for reports and ebooks when it came to marketing
            & sales.

Anyway, I searched Amazon and found much more than
what I was looking for. Stuff that can possibly turn one
into a millionaire if they study and apply it.

Sorry for rambling but this shows me or you that sometimes
the answers we are in need of are right under our noses.

I'm just getting tired of buying techniques and am finally
realizing that to make it big in this world you need a deeper
understanding of the concepts and principles that make up
your chosen vocation(s). I guess that's how some people are
able to thrive no matter what their situation or current
environment has to say about it. It has to be an exuberant
feeling to possess that kind of power.
