I've been doing Internet marketing on eBay for quite a while now, buying and selling cars. If I did not set a reserve on my car I always sold to the highest bidder. recently, I won a car on eBay motors but when I drove for about a day to pick it up they told me They sold it to someone else on eBay. My question is, if I won the auction, and I paid him the $300 deposit within the a lot of time And when I got there to pick it up they sold it to someone else is there anything I can do? Was it illegal of them to do? What are my options? I won the auction. They ran another auction with the same car and sold it to someone else. |

My first response is... What did ebay say about this? Second, did you get your $300 back? |

I have sold cars and trucks on ebay myself and you will run into all kinds of people. How did you pay for the deposit? If you paid with paypal then you will get your money back as long as he didnt clear his account and run away with the money. If you did pay with paypal file a dispute. Paypal loves favoring with the buyer. I sold cellphones on ebay for a period of time and one guy I sold to loved the phone, he gave me positive feedback, and then a couple of weeks later he filed a claim that he never received the phone. I told paypal everything and they gave the money back to the buyer all because I did not send the phone with signature confirmation. I was out $450 but everthing else I sold I made sure to add signature confirmation for the extra $.50 or whatever it is it is well worth it.

Ebay on general purpose wouldn't do that. There must be some kind of error. I think what happened here is that they lost track of their auction and did it twice. Beside I think pay pal will favor you.

I would imagine you can get them to reimburse you for the time/gas money you lost traveling to them. If they had already sold the car and transfered the registration, there is little you can do to actually get the car. I would personally make sure that the seller refunded your money obviously, but also threaten to take them to court if they don't reimburse you for gas milage/transporation costs. Sure it maybe a bluff, but I would think the seller would feel somewhat responsible and come through for you. |
